Description
Jiroutachi is a tsukumogami, a sword that has manifested as a warrior, belonging to the category of ōdachi, or great sword. His historical counterpart was once owned by Makara Naotaka's son, Makara Takamoto, though an alternative theory suggests he was used by Naosumi, Naotaka's younger brother. The name Jiroutachi is considered a designation based on naming customs for a set of swords belonging to the same person, with Tarō for the longer and Jirō for the shorter; following that method, his real name would be Chiyotsuru Kuniyasu or simply Chiyotsuru. He was present at the Battle of Anegawa, a significant conflict of the Sengoku period.

In personality, Jiroutachi is defined by his deep and cheerful love for sake. He is often seen carrying a large jug and is rarely sober, maintaining a perpetually tipsy and carefree demeanor. He enjoys drinking immensely and prefers to have company, often encouraging others to join him. He claims that doing household chores might sober him up, an outcome he actively wishes to avoid. Despite his drunken and jovial exterior, he is far more perceptive and intelligent than he appears. His use of a cheerful, giggling facade leads others to underestimate him, masking a sharp mind and a dangerous proficiency in combat. When a fight forces him to become sober, he becomes angry and his fighting style turns noticeably more vicious. He is also attentive to his appearance, favoring flashy, beautiful clothing and accessories.

His primary motivation appears to be the pursuit of pleasure, particularly the enjoyment of sake, while also fulfilling his duty as a sword warrior. He relishes the element of surprise his drunken persona provides on the battlefield and seems to enjoy being overlooked, as it allows him to observe and strike unexpectedly.

Within the story of Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru, Jiroutachi serves as one of the many sword warriors living together in the citadel. His role often centers on social interactions and providing moments of levity. One memorable incident involves him becoming drunk while the warriors view the cherry blossoms. He also participates in a memorable training sequence, standing under a waterfall in his undergarments. On the battlefield, he is a formidable fighter whose wide-reaching attacks can strike multiple enemies at once.

His most significant relationship is with Taroutachi, whom he refers to as "aniki" or older brother. While they were forged by different smiths and are not related by origin, Jiroutachi holds deep affection and respect for him, often mentioning how Taroutachi is even larger and more impressive than himself. The two are frequently associated together due to their similar nature as large, consecrated swords. He is also a social figure within the citadel, enjoying the company of drinking buddies.

In terms of development, Jiroutachi consistently presents his boisterous, sake-loving nature, but the series also hints at the wisdom and history behind his actions. He remembers past battles and his brother's thoughts from those times, suggesting a depth of experience beneath his carefree surface. His character design is notable for his great height, long black hair, and brown eyes, though these physical attributes are typical of the character's depiction.

As an ōdachi, Jiroutachi possesses notable abilities on the battlefield. His attacks have a wide range, capable of hitting up to three enemies with a single swing. He boasts high attack power and defense, making him a durable and hard-hitting combatant. However, his great size and the immense weight of his sword result in very low agility and mobility, making him one of the slowest characters in his cohort. His scouting ability is also limited, which is a common trait among ōdachi due to their large profiles.
