Description
Eugene Seven Stark is introduced as a member of the Chryse Guard Security's Third Group, a company of child soldiers on Mars. Before the arrival of Orga Itsuka, Eugene was the leader of the boys in the unit. This original position defines his early dynamic with Orga, as he resents being supplanted and frequently clashes with the new leader.

Personality-wise, Eugene is a complex individual. He is courageous and possesses both physical and intellectual gifts, but his impulsiveness and a certain lack of thoughtfulness can make him appear unlikable or lacking in charisma. Despite a tendency to complain and rebel against orders he finds reckless, he is fundamentally trustworthy and deeply loyal. His pragmatic viewpoint is a key trait; he is willing to make difficult moral compromises to protect Tekkadan when necessary, which allows him to make colder, more rational decisions in crisis situations than the sometimes hot-headed Orga. Beneath a rough exterior, he is sentimental, emotionally intelligent, and harbors a secret romanticism, believing that love cannot be bought with money.

Throughout the story, Eugene's role evolves significantly. After the formation of Tekkadan, he becomes the organization's Deputy Leader, a position of great trust. He is primarily entrusted with command of the group's mothership, the Isaribi, and frequently takes operational command when Orga is absent or occupied. His responsibilities expand beyond the battlefield, as he also proves capable of handling executive office work, such as reviewing financial accounts. Following the devastating final battle against Gjallarhorn's Arianrhod Fleet and the death of Orga, Eugene steps up as the unofficial leader, giving orders for the surviving members to evacuate. After the disbandment of Tekkadan, he assumes a new identity and becomes a bodyguard and personal assistant to Kudelia Aina Bernstein, now the Chairwoman of Mars.

Key relationships define his journey. His relationship with Orga Itsuka is central; it begins with rivalry but matures into deep respect, with Orga placing immense trust in his abilities and making him his deputy. While Eugene continues to be exasperated by Orga’s riskiest decisions, he ultimately believes in following him. His friendship with Norba Shino is characterized by constant bickering and teasing, often physically, yet it is underlaid with genuine care and camaraderie. Eugene also serves as a mentor and older brother figure to younger members like Takaki Uno.

Eugene demonstrates notable development over the series. He transitions from a rebellious second-in-command who resents his position to a dependable, responsible leader who carries the weight of Tekkadan's survival. He studies tactical guidelines diligently to better support Orga, driven by a sense of responsibility that he cannot leave everything to the leader. His evolution is complete when, after the fall of Tekkadan, he finds a new purpose as a protector in a peaceful, political setting, though the respect he earned from his comrades endures.

Eugene's notable abilities are heavily tied to the Alaya-Vijnana System, a surgical implant that allows him to directly interface with machinery. While he is a competent mobile worker pilot, his true specialty is piloting armored assault ships. His most impressive feat is commanding both the Isaribi and a captured enemy ship simultaneously using the system to evade an entire Gjallarhorn fleet, a maneuver no one else had accomplished. He is also skilled enough to pilot the customized Orga's Shiden mobile suit in combat, providing effective support fire in the final battle.
