Description
Meguri Amatsuki, also known as her transformed identity Angel Rose, is a main character from the anime Twin Angels BREAK. She is a third-year middle school student who transferred to St. Cherrine Academy in Tokyo from her rural hometown of Chichijima, a tropical island. Her family has a historical connection to the Kisaragi family and the legacy of the Twin Angels, though her ancestors were expelled from their role as heavenly messengers due to a betrayal in the past.

Personality-wise, Meguri is defined by her cheerful, energetic, and innocent nature. She is optimistic and friendly, which allows her to make friends easily, though this outgoing demeanor is sometimes perceived as pushy or a bit too forceful. While not an exceptional student, she is not portrayed as unintelligent; rather, she possesses a straightforward and determined mindset. Her motor skills are described as surprisingly average or normal, but she has good stamina. Her hobbies include sewing and decorating various items, and she has an interest in using a Polaroid camera.

Meguri’s primary motivation stems from a deep-seated dream to become an ally of justice. This aspiration was sparked in her childhood after witnessing a dramatic rescue performed by the original Twin Angels. This idealistic goal drives her to accept the responsibility of fighting evil when the opportunity arises.

In the story, Meguri is scouted by a mysterious talking hedgehog named Miruku-chan to become a magical girl known as a Twin Angel. Her role is to protect the city from villains who drain energy from people. The narrative focuses on her forced partnership with her classmate, Sumire Kisaragi, who transforms into Angel Sapphire. Unlike the eager Meguri, Sumire is reluctant to become a Twin Angel and initially wants nothing to do with her partner, creating the central dynamic of the series. As they are ordered to work together to collect Holy Medals and prevent the resurrection of a demon lord named Zelucifer, they gradually open up to each other and develop a strong bond.

Meguri has key relationships with several characters. Her partnership with Sumire Kisaragi is the most significant, evolving from mutual frustration to a deep and trusting friendship as they learn to combine their strengths. She also looks up to her predecessors, the original Twin Angels Haruka and Aoi, who were the heroes that inspired her as a child. Miruku-chan serves as her strict, no-nonsense advisor and mission giver.

Meguri undergoes notable development throughout the series. While she begins as a novice eager to prove herself, her journey involves learning to control her powers alongside her reluctant partner. A major turning point in her development occurs when it is revealed that she harbors dormant dark powers within her. This darkness is linked to her family’s past betrayal, and the story’s antagonists seek to exploit it. This culminates in her being kidnapped after her powers go berserk, forcing her partner Sumire to rescue her. Overcoming this internal darkness and working with Sumire to destroy their enemies represents her most significant character growth, allowing her to fully embrace her role as a heroine of justice. In the finale, she participates in a space battle, carrying on the legacy of the Twin Angels.

As Angel Rose, Meguri possesses notable abilities tied to her transformation. She wields a magical wand that functions as a flail or a blunt weapon, and uses a pink crystal box. Her transformation, initiated with the phrase Lovely☆Crystal, temporarily boosts her attack power and critical hit rate. In her transformed state, she can perform special attacks such as Angel Jet Slider Dawn, which deals damage to all enemies at the vanguard and knocks them back. When fighting alongside an ally with the BREAK System ability, her attack power and movement speed rise while damage taken falls. Together with Angel Sapphire, she can perform a powerful combination attack called Rainbow Break The Final.
