TV-Series
Description
Ken Mizoguchi, often called by his nickname Gucchi, is a childhood friend of the protagonist Chuuta Kokonose and a character who plays a significant adversarial role. He is a young boy of fourteen years with a slim build, standing at 169 centimeters tall. Gucchi has red, spiky hair and matching red eyes, a visual trait he shares with Chuuta. His typical attire as a captain of a Demille spaceship consists of a red hooded jacket worn over either a white shirt or a black turtleneck, complemented by white pants and grey boots. When he infiltrates Chuuta's school, he wears the same white uniform as the other students.
Gucchi is characterized by a kind and loyal nature, much like his friend Chuuta. He is generally cheerful when in the company of those he is close to and enjoys lightheartedly teasing them. A specific target of his teasing is Chuuta's old habit of talking to himself, which was established long before Chuuta learned about the existence of aliens and the organization ēlDLIVE. Beyond his friendly demeanor, Gucchi possesses a notable talent for deception, being a skilled actor capable of convincingly feigning allegiance to the Demille organization, a skill that surprises even Chuuta.
Several years before the main story, Gucchi and Chuuta, along with their friends Michiyo and Matsutarou, frequently played together at Mount Taketori. A month prior to a tragic accident, the group had given Gucchi farewell gifts in anticipation of his family moving away. However, after receiving the presents, Gucchi revealed that the move was cancelled because he had begged his parents to stay so he would not be lonely. Following Chuuta's suggestion, the four friends sealed the gifts in a box to serve as a time capsule, promising to dig it up together when they were older. A month later, while playing near a cliff at the same mountain, the ground collapsed. As Gucchi, Michiyo, and Matsutarou clung to the cliff edge calling for Chuuta's help, Chuuta accidentally stepped on a rock that caused all three of them to fall. While Michiyo and Matsutarou were never found, the dying Gucchi was rescued by the mysterious organization Demille, which recruited him and saved his life.
This traumatic event shapes Gucchi's primary motivation. For the seven years following the accident, he chooses to remain with Demille, rising through its ranks to become one of its spaceship captains. His driving purpose is to use the organization's resources and power to locate his two missing friends, Michiyo and Matsutarou, whom he hopes are still alive.
In the story, Gucchi serves as a direct foil and emotional antagonist to Chuuta. As a Demille executive and captain, he acts in opposition to ēlDLIVE, the space police force that Chuuta joins. This creates a painful conflict, as the two are former best friends now standing on opposite sides of a law enforcement conflict. Gucchi's key relationship is undeniably with Chuuta Kokonose; their shared history and the tragedy that separated them form the emotional core of his character arc. His relationship with Demille is one of pragmatic alliance, as he uses the organization to further his personal goal of finding his friends.
Gucchi possesses a unique power known as an SPH, which manifests as the ability to materialize black blades and bombs from his hands. One of his primary techniques is the D Blade, a destructive black blade surrounded by red energy. This blade has the specialized capability to sever a symbiotic being from its host without killing either party, while also extracting data from the creature. Another ability is the SPH Bomb, a black sphere that, upon detonation, releases a cloud of black smoke that knocks people unconscious and gives them the appearance of having died.
