Description
Toshinori Yagi, known to the world as All Might, was the former Number One Hero in Japan and revered as the Symbol of Peace. Born without a Quirk, he inherited the powerful transferable Quirk called One For All from his mentor Nana Shimura, becoming its eighth wielder. His very presence served as a powerful deterrent against crime, embodying an unwavering commitment to public safety and the ideals of heroism.
Due to a severe injury suffered in a battle with his archenemy All For One, which cost him his stomach and part of his respiratory system, All Might possesses a dual appearance. In his hero form, he is a tall, muscular man with blond hair and a confident smile, wearing a colorful costume inspired by American comic book heroes. His true form is gaunt and emaciated, with sunken eyes, and in this state he is weak and often coughs up blood. Maintaining his hero form requires conscious effort and can only be sustained for a limited time each day.
All Might's primary motivation is to carry on Nana Shimura's will and create a world where people can live without fear. His iconic catchphrase, "I am here!" reflects his role as a reassuring pillar of society. He eventually chooses Izuku Midoriya, a quirkless boy who demonstrates selfless heroism, as the ninth successor of One For All, becoming his personal mentor. He also takes on a teaching position at U.A. High School to guide his protégé and the next generation of heroes.
His most significant action is his final battle against All For One at Kamino Ward, where he uses the last embers of his power to defeat the villain, a victory that forces his retirement and leaves him permanently stuck in his powerless, gaunt form. After losing his power, he adapts to a new role as a mentor and strategist, proving that heroism is not solely defined by raw strength. Key relationships include his bond with Nana Shimura, his former sidekick Sir Nighteye, his friend Detective Naomasa Tsukauchi, and his deep father-like connection with Izuku Midoriya.
All Might's abilities stem from One For All, granting him superhuman strength, speed, and durability. He channels this power into named attacks based on locations in the United States, such as the Texas Smash and the Detroit Smash. His ultimate attack, the United States of Smash, was the final blow he used to defeat All For One. After his retirement, his Quirk is completely extinguished, and he no longer possesses superhuman abilities.
