Description
J.J. Sexton is a character from the Universal Century timeline who serves as a scientist and engineer. Initially a member of the Zeon forces, he is the project lead for the development of the Reuse P. Device, also known as the Reuse Psycho Device. This experimental operating system is designed to allow a pilot to control a mobile suit's limbs through direct thought communication, potentially enabling even inexperienced individuals to master the controls in a short period. His work is based with the Living Dead Division aboard their flagship, the Dried Fish. He also acts as an assistant to his colleague, Karla Mitchum, though his role includes monitoring her for suspected disloyalty to the Zeon homeland.

Sexton is defined by a driven and intensely selfish personality. He is egocentric, prioritizing the completion of his research above all other concerns, including the well-being of those around him. He treats the wounded pilots of the Living Dead Division, who are meant to serve as test subjects, with a callous disregard, viewing them essentially as lab rats for his project. When Daryl Lorenz loses one arm in battle, Sexton is instrumental in convincing the unit's commander and Karla Mitchum to pressure Daryl into voluntarily amputating his remaining arm to achieve a better synchronization with the Reuse P. Device-equipped Zaku II. His selfish nature is ultimately revealed as cowardice when, during the evacuation of his ship, he pushes aside a wounded man to secure an escape pod for himself.

While it is initially believed that he was killed when many of the escape pods from the Dried Fish were destroyed by Federation forces, Sexton ultimately survives. He is rescued by a recovery ship belonging to the South Seas Alliance, a faction to which he has defected. Following his defection, he becomes one of the Alliance's chief scientists and is shown producing a new mobile suit equipped with the Reuse P. Device. His key relationships are largely professional and transactional, defined by his singular focus on his work. His most notable ability is his expertise as an engineer and scientist in mobile suit development, specifically his leadership of the ethically questionable Reuse P. Device project. Physically, he is an adult male with gray hair and gray eyes, and he wears glasses.
