Description
Nemu Takara is a student at the True Cross Academy cram school who first appears during the Kyoto Saga storyline. He is a quiet and enigmatic figure, notable for always carrying a pink rabbit puppet with him. Nemu rarely speaks directly, instead communicating through the puppet using ventriloquism, and when he does converse, his tone is often blunt or rude. He keeps his eyes almost constantly closed, which contributes to his perpetually sleepy or detached appearance. Physically, he is short, standing only slightly taller than Konekomaru Miwa, and wears the standard True Cross Academy uniform.

Nemu is the son of the president of a large toy company, a background that connects to his unusual abilities. He joined the cram school as a transfer student beginning in his second year. While he initially poses as an ordinary Esquire, his true capabilities are far greater. It is later revealed that he was hired directly by Mephisto Pheles as a third-party moderator to discreetly supervise the Exwire students. His skill level places him as an Upper First Class Exorcist, making him far more powerful than any of his classmates. Despite lacking an official Meister title, his combat prowess is equivalent to that of a Senior Exorcist First Class.

Nemu specializes as a Tamer, specifically a Puppet Master. He can summon and control puppets, which he uses both for combat and for gathering information. His preferred familiar is the pink rabbit puppet he carries, which appears to have a degree of sentience or autonomy. The puppet can speak and act independently, and it is implied that it may house a demonic familiar. The puppet often serves as the active personality, with Nemu himself remaining asleep or passive while the puppet coordinates interactions and even takes charge in battle. When Nemu does wake up and open his eyes, the puppet is responsible for putting him back to sleep.

In the story, Nemu maintains a largely detached and observant role, staying on the sidelines of most events. His primary motivation appears to be fulfilling his assignment from Mephisto, though his personal loyalties remain unclear. He does not actively participate in group efforts or examinations, yet his abilities draw attention when he single-handedly completes a task that required teamwork from others. Shura Kirigakure grows suspicious of his presence, prompting Mephisto to disclose that Nemu is a hired overseer rather than a typical student.

Nemu has few direct relationships with other characters. He does not form close bonds with the main group, and his interactions are mostly superficial or mediated through his puppet. His connection to Mephisto is the most significant, as he operates under Mephisto's directive. His true allegiances and the full nature of his puppet familiar remain ambiguous, adding to his mysterious presence within the series.
