Description
Bakara is a fictional character who appears in the film One Piece Film Gold, serving as a major antagonist. She holds the position of a VIP concierge at Gran Tesoro, a massive, government-sanctioned independent country and entertainment city. Her role, however, is far more sinister than simple hospitality, as she is also an executive member of the city's ruler, Gild Tesoro, acting as one of his trusted subordinates.

In terms of appearance, Bakara is a tall and slender woman with an exotic and bewitching presence. She has light brown skin, long red hair, and dark green eyes. A notable feature is a red tattoo on her lower left hip depicting a spiral snake with a star in its center. Her attire typically consists of a revealing black backless dress with a white stripe and a deep neckline, which she often uses to hang her purple-tinted sunglasses. She completes this look with black gloves, large crescent-shaped earrings, black stiletto heels, and a belt with a star-shaped buckle. During combat, she changes into a set of golden armor worn over red lingerie.

Bakara’s personality is defined by a deceptive and manipulative nature. She presents herself as a friendly, composed, and helpful guide to the visitors of Gran Tesoro, encouraging them to gamble and indulge in luxury. This friendly facade, however, is a calculated act designed to lure guests into a false sense of security. Her true goal is to ensure they gamble recklessly, lose everything, and become indebted to the casino, forcing them into a life of servitude. She is highly confident, bordering on arrogant, regarding her own abilities, which leads her to believe she is invincible. This overconfidence manifests as a casual dismissiveness toward her opponents, as she is convinced that her immense luck will always shield her from harm.

Her primary motivation is her loyalty and devotion to Gild Tesoro. She swore allegiance to him five years prior when Gran Tesoro was completed. While her time with him may be shorter than that of other executives, her sincerity and dedication to his cause are absolute. Her role in the story is to act as the initial point of contact for the Straw Hat Pirates when they arrive on Gran Tesoro. She guides them through the city, lends them money to gamble with, and uses her abilities to sabotage their luck, ensuring they fall into Tesoro's trap. She plays a crucial part in the scheme that leads to Roronoa Zoro being captured, which becomes the central conflict of the film's second half.

A key aspect of her background is her connection to Tesoro, which is implied to be more than just professional. It is suggested that her physical appearance bears a strong resemblance to Stella, a woman from Tesoro's past whom he deeply loved and lost. This similarity is a primary reason why Tesoro keeps her close, utilizing both her appearance and her unique Devil Fruit powers to build his empire by swindling countless victims out of their money and freedom.

Bakara’s notable abilities stem from her consumption of the Raki Raki no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit also known as the Lucky-Lucky Fruit. This power allows her to steal the good fortune of any person she touches with her bare skin. As a precaution against accidental use, she usually wears gloves. Once she has drained a person's luck, they are plagued by a series of unfortunate and disastrous accidents. Conversely, the stolen luck accumulates within Bakara, making her extraordinarily fortunate. In this state, she becomes nearly invincible, as attacks will inexplicably miss her, and even simple actions, like tossing a coin, can trigger improbable chain reactions that cause massive destruction to her enemies. However, this stolen luck is a finite resource that depletes as it is used to avoid danger or create fortunate events.

In the final battle, Bakara demonstrates this power against Usopp, Tony Tony Chopper, and Brook. She remains almost entirely still, allowing her stolen luck to cause their attacks to miss and environmental hazards to protect her. Her arrogance proves to be her downfall. She fails to notice that Usopp has secretly used one of his Pop Green plants to hide a slot machine. As Bakara throws a coin to unleash a lucky attack, the coin is absorbed into the machine, which hits a jackpot. This event uses up all the luck she had accumulated, leaving her vulnerable. Usopp then defeats her with a single, direct attack.
