Description
Peko Pekoyama is a student of Hope's Peak Academy's Class 77-B and holds the title of the Ultimate Swordswoman. In Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School: Despair Arc, she appears as a member of the class during the period of their daily school life leading up to the tragedy that would eventually shape the fate of her generation.

Peko was abandoned by her parents as a newborn and taken in by the Kuzuryu clan, one of the largest criminal syndicates in Japan. She was raised alongside Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu, the clan's eventual heir, and trained from a young age to serve as his personal hitman and bodyguard. This upbringing defined her entire identity: she was raised to be a weapon and a tool for the clan rather than an individual with her own desires. Her background explains her deep sense of duty and her view of herself as existing solely to serve Fuyuhiko.

In terms of personality, Peko is serious, stern, and composed, showing little emotion in most situations. She speaks in an authoritative, businesslike manner and carries herself with an intimidating aura. However, she is not antisocial or deliberately cold; she is polite, willing to spend time with her classmates, and capable of warmth. She is calm and decisive under pressure, with a firm resolve, and she holds the belief that swords exist to protect others. Despite her outwardly hardened demeanor, she has a kind-hearted side, including a genuine fondness for animals.

Peko's central motivation is her loyalty to Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu. She regards her own life as belonging to him and to the clan that raised her, and her sense of purpose is bound up in protecting him at any cost. She considers herself to be little more than his tool, a self-conception that suppresses her own individuality in favor of complete devotion to her master. This belief is the core of her character and drives nearly everything she does.

Within the Despair Arc, Peko is depicted as one of the students of Class 77-B living out their ordinary school lives at Hope's Peak Academy. Her role in the story is to be part of the group of exceptionally talented students whose everyday interactions and developing bonds are shown in the period before the tragedy. In this setting, she is consistently present at Fuyuhiko's side, acting as his ever-watchful protector while also taking part in the shared experiences of her classmates.

The most defining relationship in Peko's life is her bond with Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu. She serves as his bodyguard and companion, and her devotion to him is absolute. He is the center of her world, and their dynamic is built on her complete submission to her role as his weapon. With the rest of Class 77-B, she is reserved but respectful, and she genuinely cares for her classmates and would act to protect them. Her interactions with them gradually reveal a young woman who is learning to relate to others beyond the narrow role she was raised to fill.

Peko's development in the Despair Arc centers on the conflict between her identity as a person and her self-image as a tool. Her appearances show her as a composed and capable presence among her peers, yet the friendships and connections she forms begin to complicate her belief that she exists only for Fuyuhiko. The arc illustrates the quiet, formative period of her life before the events of the Killing School Trip, when the bonds she forms with her classmates stand in tension with the devotion she has been conditioned to feel.

As the Ultimate Swordswoman, Peko is a master of kendo whose skill surpasses even the strongest adult fighters. Trained from birth to be a weapon, she is highly disciplined, physically formidable, and never goes anywhere without her sword. Her combat ability, combined with her calm analytical mind and total willingness to sacrifice herself for her master, makes her one of the most dangerous members of Class 77-B.
