Ursula Charistes, more accurately known in the series as Ursula Callistis, is a professor at Luna Nova Magical Academy, where she teaches magical astronomy and astrology. She is, in fact, the retired identity of the legendary stage witch Chariot du Nord, who performed under the stage name Shiny Chariot. Born Chariot du Nord, she was a French witch and an alumna of Luna Nova who became the most famous magical performer of her time. Her spectacular shows inspired countless people to believe in magic again, including a young girl named Atsuko Kagari, known as Akko, who decided to become a witch because of her. About ten years before the events of the series, Shiny Chariot abruptly retired from public life, and Chariot du Nord assumed the unassuming identity of Professor Ursula Callistis to hide from her past.
