Description
Muraki, also known as Muraki Tomohiro, is an esper who was a member of the criminal organization Claw, specifically part of its upper echelon known as the Scars within the Seventh Division. He is a formidable psychic whose appearance is characterized by a bald head, a scar on his scalp, and a distinctive marking on his forehead resembling two lines bracketing a dot. While serving as a Scar, he wore a turtleneck with large shoulder plates; after leaving the group, his attire shifted to a more eccentric costume featuring a large cape and shoulder pads, which he later revealed to be a form of cosplay rather than his ordinary clothing.

Personality-wise, Muraki is stoic, disciplined, and reserved, with a no-nonsense attitude that makes him intimidating to others. He is loyal to strength and power, which aligns with Claw’s ideology of esper supremacy. His motivations stem from his allegiance to the organization and its leader, Toichiro Suzuki, though his personal ambitions beyond that are not deeply explored. As a Scar, he participated in the Seventh Division’s operation to conquer Seasoning City, acting as a high-ranking enforcer.

In the story, Muraki serves as an antagonist during the World Domination arc. He confronts key characters such as Teruki Hanazawa and Ritsu Kageyama, demonstrating his psychic might by easily knocking out Teruki and overwhelming Ritsu in combat. His role is that of a powerful obstacle that pushes the younger espers to their limits. He does not undergo significant character development over the course of the series; after his defeat, he largely fades from the narrative, with little further exploration of his background or personal growth.

Muraki’s key relationships are primarily within Claw. He interacts with other Scars and his subordinates, but no close personal bonds are depicted. His rivalry with Teruki Hanazawa is notable as Teruki later replicates one of Muraki’s techniques, indicating respect for his ability.

His most notable ability is a psychic technique that allows him to manifest copies of himself by controlling his out-of-body experience. These ethereal clones are formed from his psychic energy and can attack independently, overwhelming opponents with numbers. In addition, his raw telekinetic power is strong enough to incapacitate experienced espers like Teruki in a single blow. His combat style relies on direct force and the confusion caused by his multiple projections, making him a dangerous opponent for anyone not prepared for such tactics.
