Description
Lutz Nishigori is one of the triplet daughters of Takeshi Nishigori and Yuuko Nishigori, the family friends and former skating companions of protagonist Yuuri Katsuki. She and her sisters, Axel and Loop, are six years old and live in the town of Hasetsu. Their names are taken from figure skating jumps: Axel, Lutz, and Loop. Lutz has brown hair and brown eyes and is of Japanese nationality.
Lutz and her sisters are enthusiastic users of social media, frequently recording events at the local ice rink. It is Lutz, along with her sisters, who records a video of Yuuri Katsuki perfectly replicating Victor Nikiforov’s routine Stay Close to Me at Ice Castle Hasetsu. They upload the video online, where it goes viral and catches Victor’s attention. This act sets the entire story in motion, as Victor arrives in Hasetsu and becomes Yuuri’s coach.
Lutz’s personality is playful and curious, typical of a young child. She is comfortable around figures like Yuuri, whom she has known since birth, and she shows an active interest in the skating world due to her parents’ background. Her motivations are not deeply explored; she and her sisters act out of a childlike desire to share something they find exciting. Within the story, she serves as a minor supporting character whose single action has major narrative consequences.
Her key relationships are with her parents and sisters, as she is part of a close-knit family unit. She also has a friendly, familiar bond with Yuuri, who is a longtime family friend. She does not undergo significant development over the course of the series. She has no special abilities beyond her eagerness to use technology and her natural youthful energy, which contributes to the warm, community-driven atmosphere of Hasetsu.
