Description
Malcolm C. Lvellie is a high-ranking inspector of the Central Agency, a branch of the Vatican that oversees the Black Order, and serves as the current head of the Lvellie family. He is introduced in D.Gray-man Hallow as a special inspector sent to the Order's headquarters after General Cross Marian and the exorcists return with the Ark. He is a tall man who stands at 195 centimeters, with short brown hair, gray eyes, and a distinctive toothbrush mustache. He is fifty years old and of British nationality.

Lvellie has a strict and harsh personality, and he carries himself in a way that intimidates those around him. He enjoys using his authority to force others to comply with his orders. On the surface, he can be polite and gracious, but this demeanor hides a deeply calculating and scheming nature. He is a strategist who is highly skilled in political maneuvering and is willing to sacrifice anything or anyone to achieve his goals. Despite this cold rationality, he shows a caring side toward his direct subordinates, and he has a surprising hobby of baking. He is a master baker who constantly invents new exotic cakes and other sweet dishes, a talent that stands in stark contrast to his otherwise intimidating presence.

His primary motivation appears to be gaining control over the war against the Millennium Earl. He wishes to use the Ark as a weapon to attack the Earl and is actively setting plans in motion to find new exorcists to strengthen the Order's forces for the coming final battle. He is deeply suspicious of Allen Walker, seeing the young exorcist's link to the 14th Noah as a serious liability, and he wants Allen tried for heresy. He has ordered General Cross to a desk job and forbidden him from speaking with Allen. He also decides to forcibly invoke Lenalee Lee's Innocence, guilting her with the fact that her brother Komui joined the Order for her sake, even though this course of action could be disastrous for both Lenalee and the Order.

Within the story, Lvellie acts as a bureaucratic and authoritarian antagonist who creates tension within the Black Order. He wields the authority of the Central Agency to override the decisions of the Order's leadership and impose his own agenda. His role is that of an internal political threat who complicates the exorcists' fight against the Earl.

His key relationships are marked by conflict and fear. He is a direct superior to Howard Link, whom he trusts implicitly and for whom he seems to have genuine regard. He is openly hostile toward General Cross, whom he criticizes and restricts. He views Allen Walker as a heretic and a danger to the Order. He has a particularly negative effect on Lenalee Lee. He appears in Lenalee's flashbacks to her early days with the Order, and it is implied that he was involved in her imprisonment during that time. Her stress around him is so severe that she seeks out Yu Kanda to calm herself, a coping mechanism she developed as a child. He also seems to have a negative effect on Hevlaska.

His development is limited in Hallow, as he remains a fixed figure of institutional authority. There are hints, however, that his motives may be deeper than simple ambition. Some indications suggest he may wish to free Hevlaska or end the role his family has to play in the war, but these remain ambiguous.

He possesses no supernatural combat abilities of his own. His power lies in his political and institutional authority as a high-ranking inspector of the Central Agency. His notable skills include manipulation, intimidation, strategic planning, and political negotiation. He also possesses a high degree of knowledge about the Ark and General Cross that he does not fully reveal.
