TV-Series
Description
Devit is one half of a twin pair of antagonists who belong to the Noah Family, a group of powerful beings who serve the Millennium Earl. Together with his brother Jasdero, he represents the Noah gene of "Bond". The two brothers were originally a single entity that split into two distinct individuals, yet they function as an inseparable unit and often refer to themselves collectively as Jasdevi.
Physically, Devit has a slim build with dark skin and straight, black hair. He wears heavy makeup around his eyes and has a single stripe or mark on his right eye. As a member of the Noah clan, he also bears the stigmata, a cross-shaped mark, on his forehead. His attire is distinctive and unconventional, typically consisting of a sleeveless top, tight leather pants with corset stitching where one leg is cut off at the thigh, and a fur-lined leather jacket, along with bandages wrapped around his neck.
Devit is characterized as the more dominant and calculating of the two brothers, effectively taking on the role of the elder sibling even though they are twins. His personality is marked by being loud, obnoxious, immature, and crass, in stark contrast to some of the more elegant members of the Noah Family like Tyki Mikk. He has poor patience, a terrible vocabulary, and holds deep grudges. While he and Jasdero share a childish and cruel nature, Devit is slightly more intelligent and more prone to holding actual conversation. He is capable of reflecting on a situation with a modicum of calm, often smirking with a mischievous gleam in his eye before he and his brother return to their usual routine of yelling and threats. Like all Noah, he harbors a deep-seated hatred for the current iteration of humanity and desires their extermination, finding entertainment in cruel games and fighting that often result in death.
Devit’s primary motivation throughout his appearances is tethered to his brother and a persistent grudge against Cross Marian, a high-ranking Exorcist and general of the Black Order. He and Jasdero were ordered by the Millennium Earl to kill Cross, a mission at which they repeatedly failed. In one such attempt in Edo, they not only failed again but instead ended up incurring a large debt in Cross's name, which became a source of immense personal grievance. This failure transforms into a vendetta where they seek to make Cross's student, Allen Walker, "pay the bills" for his master. This pursuit leads them into the Ark, where they confront Allen and his companions.
Devit's most significant relationship is, without question, with his twin brother Jasdero. Their bond is so profound that they are considered literally the same being, split into two bodies, and they can communicate through thoughts. Jasdero is immeasurably precious to Devit; he shows flashes of compassion and adoration for his brother, notably when Jasdero becomes distressed over losing his hair. They function as a single unit, and the loss of one would likely be the loss of the other. While Devit is adversarial with nearly everyone else, including being terrified of the Millennium Earl, his loyalty to Jasdero is absolute. As part of a mission for the Earl, they also interact with other Noah, but their primary focus remains their shared goals and each other.
Devit does not possess unique powers independently. His true ability, Materialization, is a shared power that requires complete synchronization with his brother Jasdero. When they imagine the exact same thing at the same time, they can materialize that thought into reality. This allows them to create objects, monsters, and various types of specialized ammunition for the twin golden revolvers they carry, which are otherwise simple toy guns purchased from the black market. The ammunition they materialize has diverse effects, including explosive fireballs, freezing projectiles, canceling other attacks, and creating illusions.
Their ultimate ability is to physically fuse together into a single, more powerful being also called Jasdevi. In this fused state, they become far more intelligent, sly, and vain, with incredible strength and speed. As Jasdevi, they can use their long blonde hair as a controllable weapon and can create shields or crushing traps out of dark matter. This fusion represents their original state as a single Noah, returning to their most powerful form. Throughout their appearance in the narrative, Devit and Jasdero serve as formidable antagonists whose progression from playing cruel games to a serious fusion state demonstrates their significant threat, forcing the Exorcists to push themselves to their limits.
