Description
Akira Asagi is the seventeen-year-old protagonist of Scared Rider Xechs who serves as the combat command instructor for the SRX unit at the Ryukyu LAG base. A prodigy from an early age, she skipped several grades and graduated from graduate school at just fifteen years old. After working as a researcher for one year, she was appointed to her position as an instructor and commander by official designation.
Akira has a unique dual nature that defines her character. In her daily life, she comes across as a straightforward and somewhat naive girl of her age. Due to spending her childhood immersed in studies and having few opportunities to make friends, she lacks experience with ordinary social situations and is ignorant of the ways of the world. She is estranged from her parents to the point of not even remembering their faces, and she grew up without any friends her own age. Despite this, she actively supports the band activities of the group Odd-I's and takes on the role of their manager, enthusiastically promoting the band.
When a battle begins, however, Akira transforms into a completely different person. She pilots the manned weapon aircraft known as VOX and is able to comprehend the entire battlefield at once, calmly overcoming adversity with the skills of a professional commander. Her judgment and leadership are crucial to the SRX unit's operations, as she is responsible for authorizing the Riders to enter a state of resonance with their partners. This calm, logical, and decisive demeanor during combat stands in stark contrast to her usual pure and naive reactions.
Her role in the story is central, as she is the key figure around whom events revolve. Several of her colleagues, including the characters Ishidera, Hijiri, and Amakasu, are aware of the full truth regarding her background and circumstances, but they keep this information from her, and she remains unaware of the larger situation. The story explores her origins, with hints that the destroyed area of Yokohama may have been her original home.
Akira holds the position of commander and teacher, giving orders to the SRX team in battle situations. Her relationships with the six male Riders under her command are a key aspect of the narrative. She must earn their trust and prove her capabilities as a leader, as some members initially view her sudden appointment with skepticism due to her youth and lack of field experience. Despite these challenges, she treats the Riders as her colleagues and works to build effective working relationships with them. Her personal history of isolation means that forming these connections is a significant part of her development throughout the story.
In terms of notable abilities, Akira is intellectually gifted, having demonstrated her genius-level intellect by completing advanced education at an exceptionally young age. Her primary combat ability is her tactical genius, allowing her to oversee the entire flow of a battle while piloting the VOX and issue effective commands that allow the Riders to overcome difficult situations. She has brown hair cut in a short bob with blunt bangs, and brown eyes.
