Description
Kaoru Indō is a third-year student and the charismatic captain of the Sakuragi High School soccer team. Hailing from Hokkaido, he currently lives as a boarder with the Narukami family. Physically, Indō has a tall and slender build, standing at 185 centimeters tall. He wears the number seven jersey and plays as a midfielder, a position in which he functions as the team’s primary playmaker.

Recognized as a genius among the elite players of his generation, Indō is a member of the "Ten Masters," a group representing the best high school football talents. His on-field vision is frequently described as being like that of a bird, allowing him to see the entire pitch and orchestrate play with unparalleled creativity and precision. His signature skill lies in his passing; he is a "fantasista" who uses inventive and accurate passes to control the rhythm of the match and unlock defenses for his teammates. Already having secured a future as a professional player, his talent is so highly regarded that it is said defeating Sakuragi is impossible without specifically planning to stop him.

Despite his fame and prodigious abilities, Indō has a friendly and approachable personality. He is known for being both serious and focused when competing, yet relaxed and playful off the field, often showing a quirky and eccentric side. He maintains a humble and caring demeanor, sharing a close, almost brotherly bond with his teammate and housemate, Shūji Narukami. His relationship with Narukami is particularly notable on the pitch, as they possess an intuitive understanding that allows Indō to deliver precise passes to him without needing to see his exact position. He also shares a respectful and friendly rapport with Hisahito Mizuki, another top player destined for the professional ranks.

Indō's role in the story is primarily that of a respected rival and an inspiration to the protagonist, Tsukushi Tsukamoto. After witnessing Tsukushi's relentless determination during an inter-high tournament match, Indō was moved and personally invited the younger player to participate in a futsal game, demonstrating his openness to encouraging emerging talents regardless of their current skill level. In his daily life, he appreciates the home-cooked curry made by his host, Natsu Narukami, though he dislikes her nagging. Beyond soccer, Indō has unexpected hobbies, including sumo wrestling and insect collecting, which add further unique dimensions to his character. His favorite saying is "The Earth is round," reflecting his broad, interconnected view of the world and the game.
