Description
Fugil Arcadia is a central figure and the primary antagonist of the narrative, known by the epithets of the White Hero and the Hero of the Beginning. His origins are deeply rooted in a history far older than the present era, as he is not merely the older brother of the protagonist Lux Arcadia and Airi Arcadia but a being who has lived for over a thousand years, originating from the time of the ancient Holy Arcadia Empire. He is the original user of the formidable Divine Drag-Ride, Bahamut.

Physically, Fugil is characterized by a tall stature, fair complexion, short silver hair, and piercing silver-colored eyes. His attire typically consists of a black hooded coat over a red vest, a white collared shirt with a gray ruffled tie, black pants, and brown boots with folds.

To the outside world during his time as a prince of the Old Arcadia Empire, Fugil initially projected the facade of a cheerful and caring older brother deeply concerned for Lux's well-being. However, this benevolent exterior conceals a far more complex and manipulative core. Fugil is driven by a singular, overarching goal: to find a worthy king who can correctly lead the world. He sees it as his mission to seek out candidates with the potential to be this ruler, regardless of the moral compromises they might be willing to make in their pursuit of power. Throughout his long life, he has identified several such individuals, including his brother Lux, the prince Singlen Shelbrit, and Listelka Rei Arshalia. He assists them in gaining power, but his support is conditional; he will ultimately betray and eliminate any candidate who becomes obsessed with power and turns into an enemy of the weak, as demonstrated when he killed Listelka for plotting to annihilate most of the world's population.

Beneath this pragmatic and often ruthless exterior lies a deep-seated insecurity. Fugil is haunted by his past and his relationship with Arshalia Rei Arcadia, the princess of the Holy Arcadia Empire who saved him. Prior to meeting her, he describes himself as an empty man who cared for nothing. Arshalia gave his life purpose, and together they worked as partners—she as a developer of technology and he as a warrior—to create a system called Sacred Eclipse, intended to grant the wishes of mankind and bring salvation to those suffering from injustice and discrimination. They were lovers, and he served as her personal guard. However, a pivotal and tragic event altered him permanently. After undergoing a final surgery to gain the power to control his ultimate Divine Drag-Ride, Ouroboros, his mind was fundamentally altered. While he was unconscious for a month following the procedure, Arshalia was betrayed by one of their allies, tortured, and killed. When Fugil awoke, he found that he no longer felt sadness at her death, even as he continued to operate the technologies she left behind in an attempt to fulfill her aspirations.

This tragic origin fuels his role as the primary antagonist. His actions throughout history have been in service of continuing Arshalia's legacy, searching for a worthy ruler to guide humanity. He played a pivotal role in the downfall of the original Holy Arcadia Empire, helping the ancestors of Lux (known as the clan of traitors) to overthrow it. Centuries later, he infiltrated the ruling family of the Old Arcadia Empire, taking on the role of its first prince. He then trained Lux as his disciple, strengthening his body and acting as a mentor, all the while orchestrating events from the shadows. Five years prior to the main story, he conspired with Lux and Count Atismata to overthrow the Old Arcadia Empire's corrupt rule. Yet, when the plan unfolded, Fugil deviated from its intended course, slaughtering the entire imperial family, including the emperor, and all the imperial Drag-Knights. He then used the power of his Divine Drag-Ride, Ouroboros, to alter the memories of the world, making Lux believe he was the one who had defeated the empire's 1200 Drag-Rides. His true purpose was to force Lux onto a path where he would become the new emperor, a role Lux ultimately rejected.

Fugil's key relationships are defined by his quest. His bond with Lux is that of a manipulative mentor, training him and gifting him the Bahamut, only to serve as the ultimate obstacle Lux must overcome to prove himself a worthy "hero" and king. He views Arshalia with a regret he can no longer fully feel, yet her memory dictates every action he takes. He regards other potential "kings" like Singlen Shelbrit, who rejected his manipulation, as rivals. Fugil is unflinchingly pragmatic, viewing most people as tools or as beings to be saved or culled based on their potential to contribute to a better world. His mission is the world's salvation, but his methods are brutal and his perspective is detached, leading him to commit terrible acts such as arranging the death of an innocent sister to mold her brother into a hero.

In terms of ability, Fugil stands unchallenged as the strongest Drag-Knight in the series, with his piloting skill, physical prowess, and Divine Drag-Ride surpassing all others. Having received multiple administrations of the elixir serum over a thousand years, he possesses an immortal, superhuman body that knows no fatigue. His primary Divine Drag-Ride, Ouroboros, possesses a special armament called Infinity that allows him to transform into Bahamut, the very same Divine Drag-Ride he once piloted and later gave to Lux. With this power, he single-handedly annihilated the 1200 Drag-Rides of the Old Empire. The fighting style of the Seven Dragon Paladins is often compared to his, but it is noted to be on a far lower level due to the vast difference in experience and ability.

Fugil's development culminates in a final confrontation with Lux. Throughout the series, he has acted as the self-appointed judge of humanity, resetting history and testing candidates for a thousand years. In the end, he engages in a decisive battle with Lux, who finally rejects his vision and fights for his own ideals. Fugil is ultimately defeated when he overuses his Divine Drag-Ride, causing it to overload and explode. As he perishes, the elixir-induced immortality that had sustained him for a millennium fails, and his body crumbles to ash. In his final moments, he realizes that Lux is the true inheritor of Arshalia's will and the genuine hero with the qualifications he had sought for so long.
