TV Special
Description
Itomimizu is a character from the One Piece franchise, specifically appearing as a key figure in the special episode titled Adventure of Nebulandia. He is known for serving as the game official, announcer, and commentator for the Davy Back Fight, a competitive pirate game traditionally held between crews. He is a member of the Foxy Pirates and is frequently seen riding a very large bird named Chuchun, which gives him a vantage point to observe and narrate the events of the competitions.

In terms of background, Itomimizu's primary function within the Foxy Pirates is to preside over the Davy Back Fight contests. His role is to announce each challenge, explain the often complex and unconventional rules to both the participants and the audience, and provide live commentary throughout the events. Before the events of the special, he had already been established in this capacity during the Long Ring Long Land Arc.

Itomimizu has a very distinct and somewhat eccentric physical appearance. He is a scrawny man with a round, pink nose and a broad mouth that constitutes most of his face. He typically wears a purple shirt, yellow gloves, light-yellow trousers, and black boots. His most notable feature is a striped tuque that he wears pulled down to cover his face down to his nose, with holes cut out for his eyes to see through. He is also often depicted carrying a bag that contains a Den Den Mushi, a snail-like creature used as a microphone for his commentary.

Regarding his personality, Itomimizu is a quick and energetic speaker who is highly enthusiastic and dedicated to his work as a commentator. While he is loyal to and clearly supports his own crew, the Foxy Pirates, his approach to his job is surprisingly equitable. Unlike many of his crewmates who rely on underhanded trickery, Itomimizu demonstrates a notable degree of honesty in his commentaries. He does not shy away from exposing his own captain's deceptions as they happen and is willing to freely praise impressive feats or abilities demonstrated by opposing crews, such as the Straw Hat Pirates. This makes him one of the more objective members of his crew. However, he has a flaw in that he appears to be somewhat sexist, as he repeatedly singles out the navigator Nami for what he describes as her heartless personality during his broadcasts.

In the story of the Adventure of Nebulandia special, Itomimizu plays a significant role. When Captain Foxy challenges Monkey D. Luffy to a Davy Back Fight rematch on Mushroom Island, Itomimizu is once again the commentator. His role expands beyond simple narration when two new Foxy Pirates crew members, Komei and Dojaku, betray the crew. Dojaku redirects Foxy's Noro Noro beam, which immobilizes Itomimizu and everyone else on the beach, allowing the traitors to escape with their prisoners.

Later, Itomimizu chooses to stay behind with the rest of the Foxy Pirates while Foxy goes on a rescue mission with the Straw Hats. He, along with his bird Chuchun and another crewmate named Capote, later comes to aid the Straw Hat members Brook and Chopper in their search for a special Rebound Mushroom. During this mission, their group is ambushed by Marines. Demonstrating a moment of selflessness, Itomimizu and several other pirates deliberately sacrifice themselves to allow Brook, Chopper, and Chuchun to escape. He and the others are eventually freed after Brook and Chopper befriend a snake creature named Kinoconda and defeat the Marines.

After being freed, the group rides inside Kinoconda's mouth to the central location of Nebulandia. There, Itomimizu helps the combined group of pirates by using Sneeze Mushroom gas to distract the Marines. He also provides a vital contribution by giving Foxy the antidotes needed to cure his poisoned crewmates, Porche and Hamburg. The two pirate crews then work together to defeat the Marines before parting ways on friendly terms, continuing their own adventures.

Key relationships for Itomimizu include his captain, Foxy, whom he serves but does not blindly support, as evidenced by his honest commentary. He has a close partnership with his large bird, Chuchun, who serves as his mount and allows him to perform his duties effectively. While his character does not undergo a fundamental transformation, the special does show that he possesses a sense of camaraderie and is willing to make a personal sacrifice for his allies, demonstrating bravery and teamwork beyond his typical announcer role.

Itomimizu does not possess any Devil Fruit powers or exceptional combat abilities that are highlighted. His notable talents are entirely non-combative, focusing on his skills as a charismatic and knowledgeable commentator and announcer. His primary tools are his voice and his Den Den Mushi microphone, which he uses to project his commentary and control the flow of the Davy Back Fight events. His ability to ride and direct the large bird Chuchun is also a key skill that facilitates his role.
