Description
Pickles is a supporting character from the One Piece anime universe, specifically a member of the Foxy Pirates who appears in the television special Adventure of Nebulandia. He is one of the three combatants of the Groggy Monsters, the pirate crew's fighting team, serving under the team's leader Hamburg alongside the giant Big Pan. His nickname is the Tackle Demon, and he is a large, husky man with a hippo-like face, long arms, short legs in comparison to his torso, and a preference for green clothing that includes round shoulder pauldrons. He is the second-largest member of the Groggy Monsters, smaller than Big Pan but larger than Hamburg. His name follows the food theme of his teammates, as Hamburg, Big Pan, and Pickles are each named after components of a hamburger, with pickles being one of the ingredients.
Within the events of Adventure of Nebulandia, Pickles is part of the Foxy Pirates contingent that helps fight the Marines on Kinoko Island. After that engagement, he travels with Brook, Chopper, and other leading members of the Foxy Pirates to the island of Nebulandia by riding inside the massive serpent Kinoconda's mouth during an underwater journey. Nebulandia is an island shrouded in sea mist that nullifies Devil Fruit powers, so the fighting there relies on physical strength and ordinary techniques. In this special, Pickles is shown fighting with his fists, a departure from the equipment-based style seen in his earlier appearances, and he takes part in the clashes against the Marines and the scheming commander Koumei as part of the temporarily allied forces alongside the Straw Hat Pirates.
In terms of personality, Pickles is boastful and impatient, and he becomes excited when he has the chance to face strong opponents.
