Caroline Raiden, born to a Japanese diplomat father and American mother on the West Coast, spent her early childhood in the U.S. before her parents’ divorce at age eight prompted a move to Japan with her father. Surviving the Garmillas bombardment, she grew up in an underground shelter near Tokyo, where she crossed paths with Shigeru Sakamoto. Eager to forge her own path away from her father’s rigid oversight, she joined the National Space Defense Academy once the Gatlantis Campaign ended. Her resolve led her to the 65th Escort Corps, where she earned her place as a member of their elite Cosmo Marine unit.
