Description
Belaf began as a human linguist among the Ganja Suicide Corps, one of its Three Sages. He served as the expedition's primary translator with native Abyss tribes. Tall and thin, he had wild silver hair, light blue eyes, and a prominent scar across the left side of his face—a legacy of childhood torture involving poisonous tree sap. His personality radiated insight, warmth, and deep respect for others, notably bolstering Vueko's confidence. He held a core belief that true beauty resided solely within a person's gaze, irrespective of physical form.

During the "False Water" sickness outbreak, Belaf identified the contaminated source but succumbed. He was healed consuming a broth from Wazukyan, unaware it was made from the children of Irumyuui—a young girl Belaf and Vueko parented. Discovering the truth triggered profound guilt and psychological collapse. He starved himself weak, refusing further broth despite Vueko's pleas.

Consumed by remorse, Belaf begged the monstrously transformed Irumyuui to devour him as atonement. She complied, consuming his flesh while reconstructing him into a centipede-like Narehate (Hollow) with a flower-shaped head. Conventional features vanished; two eye sockets functioned as mouths equipped with proboscis tubes for vocalization and nutrient absorption. His transformation spurred others to follow, birthing the Village of Iruburu within Irumyuui. As a Narehate Sage, Belaf's speech fragmented, reflecting his fractured mind and lost self.

Years later, Umbra Hand Bondrewd visited Iruburu with the immortal Mitty. Sensing her nature, Belaf obsessively sought her as limitless sustenance. Bondrewd refused all trade. Belaf sacrificed 724 limbs, half his length, and sensory organs, drastically reducing his "Value," to compel the village to create a perfect Mitty replica—including a copied soul. He sustained himself by continuously draining this regenerating clone.

Learning of Mitty's presence, Nanachi offered themselves in exchange for her freedom. Belaf accepted, taking Nanachi alongside the clone. When Riko later sought Nanachi, Belaf explained Mitty's origin as a replica and offered Nanachi's return for equivalent "Value"—suggesting Riko's eyes, legs, or entire digestive system—before interruption.

As Irumyuui's vengeful daughter Faputa attacked the village, Belaf regained his lost memories and former self. He released Nanachi, transferring his memories—his accumulated "Value"—to them, moved by Nanachi's bond with Mitty. He warned that the Mitty clone would cease beyond the village barrier and offered protection if they stayed, but respected Nanachi's choice to leave with her. The barrier collapsing, Belaf's form disintegrated, yet he followed Nanachi's scent toward the battle.

Confronting Faputa, Belaf acknowledged carrying her mother's scent. He offered a gift: the Ganja's past feelings and memories, especially of Irumyuui, believing Irumyuui intended Faputa to witness them. Faputa shattered his head, releasing the memories as smoke. In final moments, Belaf thanked Faputa, urging her to determine her own Value and adventure fearlessly before perishing.

Belaf exhibited high regeneration, partially recovering from his Mitty sacrifice. His proboscis tubes absorbed nutrition. Uniquely among village Narehate, his transformation granted brief tolerance outside Iruburu, albeit with permanent losses. His form was shaped by an 80% desire to be consumed ("eat me, please!") and 20% "a faded gaze," placing him near Irumyuui's instincts within the village structure.
