TV-Series
Description
Ivan Perepelkin is a Russian member of the Annex Project, having joined the mission alongside his sister, Elena, with the primary goal of finding a cure for the deadly A.E. virus that is affecting Earth. He is sixteen years old and stands 173 centimeters tall. Physically, he is a fit young man with short, spiky hair and a notable scar on his face near his left eye. His real name is Ivan Zakriev, but he adopted his mother's maiden name, Perepelkina, after learning about his connection to his half-sister.
In terms of personality, Ivan stands in stark contrast to many of his teammates from the Russian squad. He is consistently cheerful, positive, and good-hearted. Described as very altruistic and emotive, he also possesses a certain degree of naivety, which leads him to be somewhat gullible. This earnest nature is recognized by his mentor, Sylvester Asimov, who notes that Ivan is a true communist and a good man after hearing his thoughts on the Annex Project. While his default demeanor is friendly and open, he is capable of becoming serious and focused when the situation demands it.
Ivan's personal motivations are deeply tied to his mission. His drive to find a cure for the A.E. virus is a direct consequence of his sister's condition, as they both joined the project for that very reason. This motivation becomes a central part of his story, as he experiences profound rage following an order from Asimov that he believes cost his sister her life. This tragic event serves as a major catalyst for his character development, causing him to shed much of his former innocence and begin to adopt some of his sister's more serious and determined behaviors.
Throughout the narrative, Ivan forms several key relationships. He is under the tutelage of Sylvester Asimov and works alongside his sister, Elena, with whom he shares a strong familial bond. He also develops a personal attachment to Sheila Levitt, who treats a wound he received when he took a punch meant for a comrade named Jet, leading to Ivan developing a crush on her. In action, he allies with Sergei Seleznyov, and together they conduct a rescue mission to save Shokichi Komachi from capture.
Ivan's notable abilities are a result of his M.O. Operation, which is based on the Datura stramonium plant. As the first plant-type M.O. Operation shown in the series, his powers are unique. He can cause fever, hallucinations, breathing dysfunction, and even heart failure in an opponent simply by hitting them. He delivers his body's natural toxins through physical strikes. Additionally, he employs grenades that release his poison as a gas, incapacitating any target who inhales it in the area of effect. Despite the lethality of his powers, Ivan struggles with controlling the dosage of his poison, frequently using too much and killing his targets outright, which complicates his ability to capture enemies alive as intended. He takes the drug that triggers his transformation in the form of a pill.
