TV-Series
Description
Vueko, formally named Vueroeruko, endured an orphaned childhood under the abusive fisherman Juroimoh. He relentlessly pursued legends of a Golden City within a man-eating abyss, subjecting her to physical and verbal cruelty. Vueko inherited a Star Compass from a dying sailor who described the abyss to Juroimoh. Seeking escape and the Golden City, the adult Vueko joined Wazukyan's Ganja suicide corps. Despite her profound meekness and lack of self-confidence, she ascended to become one of Ganja's Three Sages.
During Ganja's descent into the Abyss, the group discovered Irumyuui, a young girl abandoned by her tribe for infertility. Vueko advocated for Irumyuui to join them as a guide, forming a deep maternal bond. Reaching the 6th Layer, Ganja encountered the Curse of the Abyss and established a permanent camp, unable to return. Many members, including Irumyuui, contracted Pseudowater—an organism that petrified hosts.
A scavenging team found a wish-granting artifact, the Cradle of Desire. Vueko secured it for Irumyuui, hoping for a cure. The artifact fused with Irumyuui's chest. Her wish, driven by desires for children and survival, resulted in nonviable offspring born without organs. These infants died shortly after birth, causing Irumyuui immense grief. Vueko comforted her until Vueko contracted Pseudowater. Wazukyan then fed Vueko and others a stew that cured them, later revealed to be made from Irumyuui's children.
Vueko watched in horror as Irumyuui continued transforming. When a second Cradle of Desire manifested in Irumyuui's chest, Wazukyan used it to amplify her powers. Irumyuui began consuming creatures and Ganja members, transforming them into Narehate. Consumed by guilt over eating the children, Belaf willingly allowed himself to be absorbed and transformed. Others followed, seeking forgiveness and a new home. Vueko alone opposed this, doubting it reflected Irumyuui's true wishes. Despairing, she attempted suicide, but Wazukyan stopped her, having also used the Cradle on himself.
Wazukyan imprisoned Vueko in a dark pit beneath the emerging Village of Iruburu (the transformed Irumyuui), explaining she was near Irumyuui's head to sense her emotions. Vueko remained imprisoned for approximately 150 years, sensing Irumyuui's final wish: the birth of Faputa, a sentient daughter destined to avenge Irumyuui's suffering. Throughout her captivity, Vueko named and communed with the spirits of Irumyuui's deceased children.
Riko discovered Vueko chained in the pit. Vueko explained her banishment stemmed from opposing Iruburu's founding, though she later accepted the village as a necessary refuge for Narehate. Riko freed her without hesitation. Vueko guided Riko through Iruburu while disguised to avoid recognition. During Faputa's attack on the village, Vueko was struck by the 6th Layer's curse. She partially transformed into a Narehate, losing coherent speech but retaining her mind. In her final moments, she protected Faputa from Wazukyan and expressed enduring love for Irumyuui before succumbing to her injuries.
