Description
Barbarossa is a prominent figure from the Parthevia Empire, serving as a high-ranking military general and the head of the noble Dragul family. He is the elder brother of Drakon, another key character from the series. Holding the position of a left general, Barbarossa is also a Dungeon Capturer and one of the King Vessels serving under the Magi named Judar.

In terms of appearance, Barbarossa is a man with short hair and bangs that often shadow his eyes. He typically wears the formal military uniform of the Parthevia Empire, complete with metal armor and robes that cover one of his shoulders. A notable accessory is an earring on his right ear, which is similar to the one worn by his brother, Drakon.

Barbarossa possesses a cold and calculating personality, presenting a facade of warmth and kindness when it serves his purposes. He is highly manipulative and views most other people not as individuals but as tools to be used for his own advancement. This is starkly illustrated in his relationship with his younger brother, Drakon, for whom he has no genuine affection. He is willing to write Drakon off as dead after a failure and shows no remorse in attempting to kill him personally. His true nature is also revealed in his interactions with Princess Serendine Parthevia. While he initially acts kindly as her betrothed, he ultimately admits he cares for her only as a means to seize the Parthevian throne, intending to rule as emperor with her as his queen.

Barbarossa is driven by a deeply ingrained supremacist ideology. He firmly believes that the Parthevian people are a superior race and that all others are inferior beings whose existence causes harm and leads to the downfall of a country. This belief system fuels his primary motivation: to gain absolute political power in order to reshape society according to his vision. He aims to eliminate those he deems inferior and create a new political system that enshrines the dominance of the Parthevian race.

Within the story, Barbarossa plays the role of a major antagonist. After the death of the Parthevian emperor and the disappearance of Princess Serendine, he capitalizes on the ensuing chaos. He transitions the Parthevia Empire from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional monarchy, where he serves as the influential leader of the Independent National Party, effectively becoming the nation's de facto ruler. He is also the mastermind behind the persecution of Sinbad, having initially sent Drakon on a mission that was intended to eliminate the young adventurer. Later, when Sinbad establishes his own kingdom, Barbarossa becomes a direct enemy, launching a military campaign against him.

Key relationships define Barbarossa's character. His relationship with his brother Drakon is one of cold disdain and attempted fratricide, as he views Drakon as a disgrace to their family name. With Serendine, his relationship is purely political; she is a tool for his ambition and he shows his true, ruthless nature when she defies him. In contrast, he treats the Magi Judar with respect, even apologizing for disturbing him, and Judar affectionately calls him Bar. He also initially acts friendly toward Sinbad, expressing admiration for his accomplishments, though this is a ploy to earn his trust while their conflicting ideologies set them on a collision course.

Barbarossa undergoes a notable character development as the story progresses. He begins as a supremely confident and ambitious master strategist, successfully orchestrating a political takeover of a major empire. However, as he clashes with Sinbad, his fortunes reverse. He becomes a broken man backed into a corner as his forces lose a war and his own people lose faith in him. His initial cold ambition gives way to rage and despair, ultimately leading to his downfall.

As a King Vessel who has captured two dungeons, Barbarossa is an immensely powerful individual. His primary weapon and Metal Vessel is a golden poleaxe. He possesses at least two Djinn. The first is Glasya-Labolas, the Djinn of Slaughter and Arrogance, which grants him the ability to manipulate metal at an atomic level. With this power, he can decompose metal into fog, shape it into projectiles like steel bullets, and even break apart the Metal Vessels of his opponents, rendering them useless. His second Djinn is Gusion, which grants him the power to manipulate tectonic plates. His Extreme Magic with Gusion allows him to cause devastating earthquakes, though this ability consumes a massive amount of Magoi and is used only when absolutely necessary.
