Description
Falan is a magician who first appeared in the world of Alma Torran before becoming a significant figure in the Parthevia Empire during the era of Sinbad's youth. Her origins lie in the original world, where she was a close ally of Solomon, the king who created the new world. She was one of the wielders of the 72 Divine Staves, artifacts that drew power directly from the god Ill Ilah, marking her as an exceptionally powerful magician from the very beginning.
In Alma Torran, Falan's personality was notably different from what it would become. She had an air of vanity, was proud of her figure, and was known for being openly outspoken. She spoke with a verbal tic, often ending her sentences with the sound aru. During this time, she was a loyal and trusted member of Solomon's resistance force, fighting alongside him to overthrow the oppressive Orthodox government. She was married to a fellow magician named Wahid, and the couple had a son named Tess. Falan was an extremely caring and affectionate mother, deeply devoted to her child.
The tragedy that shattered her life was the gruesome death of her son Tess, who was burned to death. The trauma of this loss, combined with the subsequent events of Solomon replacing Ill Ilah as the god of their world, planted a deep-seated ill will and resentment within her towards the king she once followed. This grief ultimately led her and her husband to betray Solomon and join Al-Thamen, a dark organization seeking to destroy the world created by their former leader.
After the transition to the new world, Falan became a Magician Counselor within the Parthevia Empire, wielding considerable political influence. Her personality underwent a complete reversal. She is now cold-blooded, manipulative, sociopathic, and cruel, showing no remorse as she engineers the tragedies and pains of others, often to drive them into a state of depravity. Along with her fellow Al-Thamen members, she is fanatically devoted to summoning their father, Ill Ilah, to destroy the current world, a goal that brings her to tears of joy when success seems near. She has also lost her old habit of ending sentences with aru, a sign of how utterly she has changed.
Her most complex and defining motivation is rooted in her unresolved maternal grief. She has not moved past the death of her son Tess, even after thousands of years. This trauma twists her actions, particularly in her relationships with others. She shows genuine, though warped, care for children like Judar and the Parthevian prince Ceylan, raising them as if they were her own. However, it is revealed that she does not see them as individuals but as vessels to project her lost son Tess onto. In a moment of emotional vulnerability, she promises to protect Tess through Ceylan, even briefly reverting to her old aru speech pattern, demonstrating that her core wound has never healed.
Falan’s key relationships are defined by this history. She was once a trusted subordinate of Solomon, but became a bitter enemy. She dearly loved her husband Wahid, who ultimately sacrificed himself to protect her. Her love for her son Tess is the central tragedy of her existence. In the new world, she has a profoundly manipulative yet possessive relationship with Ceylan, whom she treats as a surrogate son, and she serves as a mentor-like figure to the young magi Judar.
As a magician, Falan's abilities are formidable and varied. In Alma Torran, her power was amplified by wielding one of the 72 Divine Staves. After that power source was lost, she still retained mastery over several types of magic. She is a skilled user of Life Magic, which she has used to force enemy magicians to turn on each other. She can also employ Ice Magic to freeze large bodies of water and Gravity Magic to levitate and attack with crushing spheres of force known as Ala Raqesa, or the Puppeteers Entombment Dance.
Her most distinctive ability in the later story comes from her form. After being trapped in another dimension, Falan adopted the method of becoming a being of pure thought, like other members of Al-Thamen, and now inhabits a doll-like body. This grants her several unique powers, such as instantly sharing all knowledge and sensory information with her fellow organization members. Furthermore, she can control multiple doll bodies scattered across the world simultaneously, allowing her to gather intelligence, conduct numerous operations at once, and appear in different places without moving her main consciousness.
