Description
Chaud, known in Japan as Enzan Ijuin, is a central figure in the MegaMan NT Warrior anime, serving as a prodigy, a rival, and eventually a trusted ally. He is a young boy, typically around twelve to thirteen years old, with distinct blue eyes and black and white hair. As the son of the president of the powerful BlazeQuest corporation, Chaud holds the position of vice president, a role that contributes to his mature and business-oriented demeanor. He is an Official NetBattler, commissioned to investigate and combat cyber crimes, making him a recognized authority in the field.

Chaud's personality is initially defined by a cool, confident, and often aloof exterior. He is extremely serious and speaks in a realistic, no-nonsense manner, largely because he dedicates an immense amount of time to training with his NetNavi, ProtoMan, reportedly around ten hours a day. This dedication, combined with his natural genius, makes him one of the most powerful NetBattlers in the series, and he is the victor of the N1 Grand Prix tournament. In the early stages of the story, he views most people, including the protagonist Lan Hikari, as either nuisances or amateurs who get in his way. His preference for solitude and his belief in efficiency can come across as arrogant or condescending, but this behavior is rooted in his personal history; the death of his mother when he was young and the subsequent emotional neglect from his father led him to build walls around himself and view relationships as secondary to duty.

Despite his cold first impression, Chaud possesses a strong and unwavering moral compass with a clear view of right and wrong. He is chivalrous and dependable, believing that the strong have a duty to protect the weak. This sense of duty is his primary motivation. He is driven to eliminate threats to the net and maintain order, often handling tasks with great determination and a tactical brilliance that allows him to operate on the same level as adults. His role in the story evolves from a distant rival who dismisses Lan's emotional and friendship-driven approach to NetBattling, to a key comrade. As the series progresses, particularly in MegaMan NT Warrior Axess, he becomes a vital member of the NetSavers, a team dedicated to stopping the criminal organization Nebula and the threat of Dark Chips.

The evolution of Chaud's character is one of the most significant in the series, marked by his changing relationships. His dynamic with Lan Hikari is central; what begins as professional rivalry built on mutual respect for each other's abilities slowly develops into a genuine friendship. They learn to cooperate effectively, with Chaud often sending battle chips to Lan with precise timing, a skill that requires deep trust and understanding. He also forms a bond with the young heiress Yai Ayano, showing a gentler side when protecting her, though he often masks this kindness with teasing. By far his most important relationship is with his own NetNavi, ProtoMan. Initially, Chaud treats ProtoMan as a highly effective tool, and their bond is professional rather than the overt friendship shared by Lan and MegaMan. However, this bond is incredibly deep, allowing them to perform Cross Fusion, a rare and powerful synchronization that merges operator and Navi into a single being to fight in the real world.

The strength of this connection is most powerfully demonstrated during a critical incident in the Axess series. To stop a powerful enemy, Chaud is forced to give a corrupting Dark Chip to ProtoMan. The chip transforms ProtoMan into a rampaging Darkloid, Dark ProtoMan. Consumed by guilt over causing his partner's suffering, Chaud becomes depressed but resolves to rectify his mistake, showing a level of emotional vulnerability and devotion unseen in his earlier, colder persona. Lan’s support during this ordeal solidifies their friendship, and the event marks a turning point where Chaud fully opens up to others. By the later series, Stream and Beast, he has shed much of his defensive coldness, acting with more visible emotion and even smiling, while never losing his tactical edge and intelligence.

As a NetBattler, Chaud’s abilities are second to none. His skill with a PET and battle chips is precise and devastating, allowing him to defeat most opponents in seconds. His signature ability is Cross Fusion with ProtoMan, which grants him enhanced combat capabilities in the physical world, transforming him into a form that mirrors his Navi's design. He is also a formidable tactician and investigator, often gathering crucial intelligence that proves vital to the heroes' success, such as researching the origins of Asteroid Navis and the identities of other key characters like Baryl and Colonel. Chaud Blaze begins as an isolated prodigy defined by his duty and intellect, but through trials, loss, and partnership, he grows into a loyal friend and a heroic figure whose cold exterior belies a deep capacity for loyalty and sacrifice.
