TV-Series
Description
In the anime MegaMan NT Warrior, known in Japan as Rockman.EXE, the character Dr. Wily, also referred to as Mr. Wily, is a central figure whose role evolves significantly over the course of the series. He is initially introduced as a primary antagonist, a brilliant but deeply embittered scientist whose actions are driven by a profound hatred for the Hikari family and the net society they helped create. In his youth, he was a brilliant scientist for the Ameroupe Army before his descent into villainy. His personality is marked by a relentless obsession with power and destruction, and he is characterized by a persistent, almost obsessive refusal to accept defeat, allowing him to repeatedly return from setbacks to enact new schemes.

Dr. Wily serves as the founder and leader of the original World Three organization, a net-crime syndicate dedicated to spreading chaos in both the cyber and real worlds. In the first season of the anime, his primary goal is not simply destruction, but the acquisition of the Ultimate Program, which he believes is held within the powerful NetNavi PharaohMan. He orchestrates events such as the N1 Grand Prix tournament to identify and secure what he considers the ultimate NetNavi. After the defeat of World Three, he resurfaces as the mastermind behind the Grave crime syndicate, continuing his campaign of disruption.

Despite his villainous beginnings, Dr. Wily's role in the story transforms. Following the defeat of his initial organizations, he disappears for a time and later returns as a neutral but valuable ally to the protagonist, Lan Hikari, and his NetNavi, MegaMan. In this later phase, he provides crucial technological support and assists the team in facing larger threats, such as the asteroid named Duo. He even aids in the development of the Dimensional Area Generator, a device essential for combating enemies that can manifest in the real world. This shift demonstrates a move away from his purely destructive ambitions towards a more complex and pragmatic role.

His key relationships are complex and defined by his past. He is an old friend of Barrel, the grandfather of Colonel and operator of the NetNavi ProtoMan. He also has a fraught family dynamic, being the adopted father of both Dr. Regal, the main antagonist of the Axess season, and Ms. Yuri. He expresses little concern for Regal, viewing him as a dangerous and unstable individual, while his relationship with Yuri appears closer. In a later, lighter moment in the series, it is revealed that he opens a sushi restaurant named Wily's Sushi. At the very end of the anime series, he is temporarily turned into cached data by a villain named Cache but is ultimately restored.

In terms of abilities, Dr. Wily is a master scientist and inventor of immense skill. While he does not typically engage in direct combat, his expertise lies in robotics, net technology, and the creation of advanced weaponry. He is responsible for designing and deploying numerous powerful NetNavi henchmen and complexes for his schemes. In his later neutral role, he is shown to possess and utilize a peculiar mobile recycling cart that is also equipped with missile launchers, showcasing his continued penchant for combining the mundane with high-powered ordnance. A parallel version of Wily from an alternate dimension known as Beyondard also appears, whose consciousness is stored in an android brain and who is responsible for instigating major conflicts involving the Cybeasts and the Beast Factor.
