Description
Princesa Orgulho, known in English as Princess Pride, is a recurring character in the anime MegaMan NT Warrior. She is the princess of Brightland and the operator of the NetNavi KnightMan.EXE. In her first appearance, she travels to DenTech City in secret disguised as a boy named Whip, hoping to experience ordinary life away from her royal obligations. During this visit she meets Lan Hikari at a game arcade after impressing the crowd with a winning streak in NetBattling, and the two spend the day together as friends before her identity is revealed.
Her personality blends a feminine, graceful royal appearance with a tomboyish love of adventure and competition. She is a warmhearted and caring person with a strong sense of justice, yet she often feels suffocated by the strict routines her parents have planned for her and regularly sneaks away to do normal childhood activities such as sightseeing, eating ice cream outdoors, swimming races, and NetBattling. Despite this desire for freedom, she takes her responsibilities seriously when they matter and is well loved by the people of her kingdom.
Her central motivation is the wish to escape the constraints of royal life and be treated like an ordinary kid, while also honoring promises she makes to those she cares about. She is especially motivated by her bond with Lan, and she later becomes invested in protecting the world when she is marked by the Crest of Duo and joins the Cross Fusion team in the Stream storyline.
In the story, she plays an increasingly important role. During her debut, the criminal organization Grave hires ShadowMan.EXE to delete KnightMan because the Navi contains a new anti-virus program, and Pride fights alongside Lan to fend off the attack. She returns in later seasons when KnightMan goes out of control, and eventually becomes one of the Cross Fusion members, gaining the ability to merge with her Navi and fight as C.F. KnightMan. She also participates in the research of the Dimensional Area alongside Raika, whose home country of Sharo shares a border with Brightland.
Her key relationships shape much of her development. She grows deeply fond of Lan, showing great concern for his safety, doting on him whenever they meet, and even kissing him on the cheek before leaving; Lan develops a reciprocal infatuation with her, which sparks jealousy in Maylu Sakurai. Raika develops a crush on her as well, and the usually serious Raika is often made to blush by her playful nature. Through her friendships and her battles against Grave, Pride matures from a restless princess longing for freedom into a committed defender of the planet who learns to balance her personal desires with her duty to others.
As a NetBattler, she is highly skilled and commands KnightMan.EXE, a powerful Navi that carries the important anti-virus program. She also displays surprising physical strength, such as when she tears open a large toy capsule with her bare hands to free Lan. Her most notable ability appears later in the series when she gains the power of Cross Fusion, allowing her to unite with KnightMan.EXE and fight in the real world as C.F. KnightMan in defense of Earth.
