Description
Aigami, whose real name is Deeva, serves as the primary antagonist in the story. He is a mysterious youth who transfers into Yugi Muto's class at Domino High School under the false identity of Aigami, using his powers to alter the memories of those around him to believe he has always been a student there. His true goal is deeply tied to the legacy of the Pharaoh Atem and the Millennium Puzzle.

Deeva’s background is rooted in tragedy. He was once a homeless orphan living under the care of an abusive guardian who forced the children to steal for him. Along with his younger sister Sera, a companion named Mani, and other orphans, their lives changed when they met Shadi Shin, the guardian of the Millennium Items. Shadi rescued them and became their mentor, raising them in Egypt and teaching them about the Millennium Items. He revealed to Deeva that when the seven Millennium Items were reunited, a door to a better world would open for those chosen. However, tragedy struck when Ryo Bakura's father arrived at Shadi's sanctuary, leading to the awakening of the evil spirit of the Millennium Ring, which ultimately caused Shadi's death. In his final moments, Shadi entrusted the Quantum Cube to Deeva, Sera, and Mani.

Driven by a desire to fulfill Shadi's vision, Deeva became the wielder of the Quantum Cube and the leader of a group of children who possess the power of Prana. This power, a form of collective consciousness, allows them to manipulate reality and create dimensions. It was bestowed upon them at the moment the Pharaoh Atem departed for the afterlife. Deeva believes that the current world is corrupt and meaningless, and his primary motivation is to create a perfect, ideal world without evil or fear, as Shadi had promised. However, this power is contingent on Atem never returning. Should the Pharaoh come back, Deeva and his followers would lose their abilities forever. This belief fuels his antagonism, leading him to attempt to prevent the Millennium Puzzle from being reassembled and to eliminate anyone he sees as a threat to his goal, including Yugi and Seto Kaiba.

In the story, Deeva uses his powers to interfere with Kaiba's excavation of the Millennium Puzzle's remains, successfully stealing two of its pieces. He gives one piece to his sister Sera, hoping to keep it safe. His actions become more aggressive as he tries to isolate Yugi, sending his friends Katsuya Jonouchi and Ryo Bakura to another dimension where they begin to fade from existence. He confronts Bakura directly, seeking vengeance for Shadi's death. Despite his desire to create a peaceful world, his methods are ruthless and driven by an unwavering, almost terrifyingly pure conviction in Shadi's teachings. Creator Kazuki Takahashi noted that Deeva's horror stems from his absolute belief in his cause, making him a passive antagonist who coldly observes the world without displaying excessive emotion.

Deeva’s key relationships define his actions. He holds Shadi in the highest regard as his savior and master, and he is fiercely protective of his younger sister, Sera. However, his dedication to his mission often puts him at odds with her more cautious perspective. He views Yugi as an obstacle because Yugi carries the spirit of the Pharaoh, and he sees Kaiba as a threat due to Kaiba's obsessive drive to resurrect Atem. His most significant relationship is with the Millennium Ring. After the death of Mani, Deeva comes into contact with the corrupted item, and its evil spirit takes control of him. This transforms him into Dark Deeva, a demonic version of himself with grotesque physical features, including cube-like protrusions, claws, wings, and the Millennium Ring fused into his chest. In this corrupted state, his personality warps from desiring a peaceful world to becoming a sadistic force obsessed with creating darkness and despair.

Deeva's character undergoes a clear arc from a misguided idealist to a vessel for pure evil. Initially, he acts with calculated restraint, using his powers to banish people and surveil his targets. His desperation grows as the Puzzle nears completion, leading him to more direct confrontations. Ultimately, his contact with the Millennium Ring corrupts him entirely, turning him into Dark Deeva. In this final form, he engages in a Duel against both Yugi and Kaiba. It is only when the Pharaoh Atem temporarily returns to face him that Dark Deeva is defeated, reverting to his normal self before vanishing.

Notable abilities are central to Deeva's identity. He possesses the Quantum Cube, an object that allows him to teleport, manipulate dimensions, and send people to void-like spaces where they gradually disappear. He is also part of the collective consciousness known as Prana, which gives him and his followers the ability to bend reality to their will. In Duel Monsters, he uses a Cubic deck, a strategy themed around summoning monsters that grow stronger by stacking copies of the basic Vijam the Cubic Seed beneath them. His Cubic monsters focus on dealing effect damage and overwhelming opponents through relentless evolution, culminating in the summoning of powerful monsters like Crimson Nova Trinity the Dark Cubic Lord.
