TV-Series
Description
Jaga Imo is a student at the Midgar Royal Spellsword Academy and a member of the same first-year class as the protagonist, Cid Kagenou. He is the second son of the Baron Imo family, a noble house that oversees a territory known for potato cultivation. Physically, Jaga Imo has a small and bony frame with unremarkable, forgettable features, and he is bald, with his round face and shaved head serving as his trademarks. His overall appearance is such that, according to his friend Cid, he lacks any aura of being handsome from any angle.
In terms of personality, Jaga Imo is portrayed as a fairly average and unexceptional teenager, which is a deliberate part of his role as a background character. He demonstrates a tendency to be clueless and lacks outstanding qualities. Despite his otherwise ordinary demeanor, he possesses a more obsessive side, particularly regarding his romantic interests. His aspirations are simple yet ultimately unattainable, primarily focused on pursuing romantic or physical relationships with attractive women, though every attempt he makes ends in failure and embarrassment. He is shown to be talkative and thinks of himself as being above Cid, despite speaking to his classmates with polite language. This self-perception contrasts with his actual status as a minor figure who is easily overlooked.
Jaga Imo’s primary motivation stems from his puerile fantasies and a desire for romantic success, which drives many of his actions within the story. His role is primarily that of a mob character, or a background extra, who serves as part of Cid Kagenou’s social circle at the academy and helps ground the story in a mundane school life setting. His most notable action in the plot involves a bet made among his friend group. He, along with Cid and their mutual friend Hyoro Gari, made a wager that the loser would have to confess to Princess Alexia Midgar. After Cid lost the bet, Jaga Imo and Hyoro were shocked and jealous when Princess Alexia accepted Cid’s confession, leading to a public relationship between them.
Jaga Imo’s key relationships are with his two close friends, Cid Kagenou and Hyoro Gari, with the three of them forming a recognizable trio of friends at the academy. He also has a notable connection to another student, Skel Etal, whom he regularly supplies with potatoes from his family’s estate. There is no significant character development or evolution for Jaga Imo throughout the second season; his recorded existence remains anchored to his primary role in the main storyline without substantive change. Regarding his notable abilities, Jaga Imo is not a skilled fighter or magic user of any renown. Instead, his recognized expertise lies in his knowledge of potatoes and sweet potatoes, stemming from his family background in potato cultivation. He is known to give advice on proper roasting techniques and to enthusiastically share tips about potatoes and sweet potatoes with his peers. Another of his peculiar habits is covertly gathering intrusive personal information on his classmates, tracking details such as relationships, grudges, and even choices of undergarments.
