Description
Amadeus K. Dorssia is the 68th President and supreme leader of the Dorssia Military Pact Federation, a position he seized through a coup d'état known as Red Thursday a decade before the main events of the story. This coup successfully drove the royalist faction, led by Lieselotte W. Dorssia, from power and subsequently transformed Dorssia into a highly militarized state. As the Führer, his authority is absolute, and he governs with a focus on military expansion and technological dominance.
Amadeus is a character defined by his strategic, analytical, and ambitious nature. He is a forward-thinking strategist who operates with a sense of intellectual superiority and a deep-seated desire to control his nation's destiny and challenge the hidden powers that rule the world. He displays a calm, calculated demeanor and a smug confidence in his own abilities to manipulate information and political situations to his advantage. This often manifests as arrogance, as he contemptuously discusses his plans and views on human folly, believing himself to be above the common deceptions he employs. Despite his composed exterior, he is utterly ruthless in pursuing his goals, willing to sacrifice anything to maintain his grip on power.
His motivations are rooted in a desire for absolute control and a rebellion against the secretive Magius, a race of immortal beings who manipulate global politics through the Council of 101. While he is a trusted ally of Colonel Cain Dressel, with whom he shares a desire to harness the powers of the Magius, his ultimate ambition leads him to act against the Council's wishes. He plots to breach Magius territory and later decides to invade the nation of JIOR specifically to secure the powerful Valvrave units, intending to use them as a tool for his own rebellion against the Magius.
Throughout the story, Amadeus serves as a primary antagonist and a symbol of Dorssia's aggressive militarism. His role involves orchestrating key political moves to expose and destabilize the existing world order. He uses the Valvrave pilot Saki Rukino as an instrument to publicly reveal the secret of the Magius's regeneration abilities to the entire world during a summit. He also declares the covert activities of the organization known as Phantom to be the work of the Valvrave pilots, justifying a full-scale military assault on Sakimori Academy.
Amadeus maintains key relationships that define his position. He is a close friend and ally of Cain Dressel, sharing his ambition to dominate and manipulate the Magius's power. He is also a temporary ally and later betrayer of Jeffrey Anderson, the president of ARUS. He is an antagonist to Lieselotte W. Dorssia, the exiled leader of the royalist faction he overthrew. His most significant adversarial relationship is with L-elf, a former Dorssian agent who ultimately exposes Amadeus's true nature as a Magius during an alliance ceremony.
Amadeus undergoes a significant reversal of fortune as the narrative progresses. Initially, he believes he can control the world's perception through sophisticated information manipulation. However, his schemes begin to unravel when the royalist faction rises up, and President Jeffrey betrays him, switching to a plan to annihilate the Council of 101. This leads to a catastrophic leak of information, causing the power holders on his side to be arrested and purged. In a moment of bitter irony, the very methods of manipulation and exposure he used against others are turned against him by L-elf. After being cornered by ARUS soldiers, his plans in ruins, he is forced to confess the truth about the Magius, marking his final downfall.
In terms of abilities, Amadeus is not a pilot or front-line fighter but a master of political and military strategy. His greatest strengths lie in his intelligence, long-term planning, and ability to manipulate international relations and media narratives to his advantage. He is a key figure within the Council of 101 and, like other members, his body is later possessed by a Magius named Mirko, who uses his position to further the council's agenda. His power is derived entirely from his political office, his connections within the Magius council, and his skill in psychological and information warfare.
