Description
Oya is a human supporting character in the anime The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated!. She owns the run-down apartment building where the protagonist Jahy lives and is the younger sister of the store manager who runs the izakaya tavern called Izakaya Maou, where Jahy works part-time.

Her background is rooted entirely in the human world, where she acts as the landlord of the apartment building. In the everyday flow of the story, her most consistent concern is collecting rent, and she frequently bursts into Jahy's room to demand overdue payments. These encounters regularly turn into physical comedy or loud verbal exchanges, since Jahy is almost always short on money and struggles to pay on time.

Oya's personality is defined by an aggressive, blunt, and tomboyish manner. She is quick to scold Jahy and does not hesitate to use her surprising physical strength to intimidate or overpower others. Despite this rough exterior, she genuinely cares about the people around her, and her attitude is tsundere in nature: she constantly nags and berates Jahy over the rent, yet she occasionally shows a softer side and looks out for Jahy's well-being when it matters.

Her motivations operate on two levels. On the surface, she is driven by practical concerns, chiefly making sure her tenant pays the rent and maintaining order in her building. Beneath that, her behavior reveals a real concern for Jahy and a wish to look after the people around her, even though she expresses that care through teasing, rough treatment, and complaint.

In the story, Oya serves as a recurring source of conflict and comedy through her rivalry with Jahy, but her role gradually expands beyond that. Her relationship with Jahy begins as an antagonistic one centered on unpaid rent and develops into a chaotic, sister-like bond. Over time, she becomes one of the characters who helps Jahy grow accustomed to human society, moving from a mere opponent over money to one of Jahy's closest companions who includes Jahy in various social activities. Her relationship with the store manager, her older sister, is somewhat strained because their personalities differ greatly: the manager is warm, maternal, and patient, while Oya is abrasive and short-tempered. The manager sometimes acts as a mediator between Oya and Jahy, helping to soften the friction between them.

In terms of development, Oya changes over the course of the series from a simple rent-collecting antagonist into a friend who genuinely cares for Jahy. Her softer side becomes more visible as the story progresses, though she never fully abandons her prickly demeanor. Her notable abilities are primarily physical: she possesses surprising strength for her build and carries a forceful, intimidating presence that allows her to dominate comedic confrontations, even against a character with demonic origins like Jahy.
