Description
Ikuyo Kita is a first-year student at Shuka High School and serves as the vocalist and rhythm guitarist for Kessoku Band. She has red hair with grown-out bangs and yellow eyes, usually seen wearing her school uniform: a white sailor top with six yellow buttons, red ribbon ties, a gray pleated skirt, white socks, and maroon shoes. Her given name, Ikuyo, embarrasses her due to its phonetic similarity to phrases like "I'm coming" or "Let's go," leading her to insist on being called only by her surname, Kita.

Kita exhibits an intensely extroverted and sociable personality, often described as a "cheerful character" and "party people." She actively engages with others through social media, frequently posting on Isosta under the handle @kita0421. Despite her popularity, athleticism, and academic competence, she perceives herself as mediocre compared to her bandmates, particularly feeling inadequate next to Ryo Yamada's musical talent. This self-assessment stems from a pre-band lack of exceptional skills. Her background includes forming superficial friendships easily but struggling to develop deeper connections. Witnessing Ryo perform at a street concert sparked intense admiration and envy for Ryo's unconventional path, motivating Kita to join Kessoku Band under false pretenses while concealing her inability to play guitar. Overwhelmed by this inadequacy, she fled just before their debut performance.

Her return followed an encounter with Hitori Gotoh, initially approached as a potential replacement. After discovering Bocchi's musical talent, Kita requested guitar lessons instead. This led to a confrontation where Kita confessed her earlier deception and her reason for joining: her idolization of Ryo. The band reconciled with her, and a technical oversight was revealed—Kita had purchased a six-string bass instead of a standard guitar. Ryo resolved this by buying the bass and lending Kita her own Pelham Blue Gibson Les Paul Junior DC indefinitely. Under Bocchi's tutelage, Kita's guitar skills progressed rapidly, developing live proficiency within months. A critical moment occurred during the school festival concert when Bocchi's equipment malfunctioned; Kita improvised an ad-libbed segment to maintain continuity, demonstrating newfound confidence and technical growth. This event also shifted her relationship with Bocchi, transitioning from formal address ("Gotoh-san") to the affectionate "Hitori-chan."

Kita's band relationships are multifaceted. Her initial fanatical admiration for Ryo evolved into a balanced friendship as she recognized Ryo's flaws. With Bocchi, she evolved from viewing her as a teacher to mutual trust and camaraderie, actively supporting Bocchi through social challenges at school. Nijika Ijichi regards her as a "natural sadist" for unintentionally blunt remarks, though they maintain a positive dynamic. Kita values Kessoku Band as a "second family," emphasizing shared passion over individual bonds like friendship or romance. Her band dedication eventually impacted academics, causing grades to decline and conflicts with her strict mother. Encouraged by bandmates, she committed to balancing music and studies. She also contributed beyond performance, managing their social media presence with over 15,000 followers and attempting lyric composition for their mini-album.

Trivia notes include her birthday (April 21), height (158 cm), and the origin of her surname—a homage to Kensuke Kita of Asian Kung-Fu Generation, though her band role aligns more with rhythm guitarist/vocalist Masafumi Gotoh. Her pedal board configuration consists of a Polytune tuner, Boss BD-2 Blues Driver, and Pro Co RAT distortion.
