Ms Marie Hudson, known as Mrs Hudson, is the landlady and housemaid of 221B Baker Street in the anime series Sherlock Hound. Unlike the traditional depiction of an older woman, this version presents her as a young and comely widow in her early to mid twenties. Her late husband, Jim, was a pilot, and her connections within the aviation world frequently prove useful to Sherlock Hound during his investigations. She is also described as a former aviator herself, maintaining strong ties with local pilots who were friends of her husband.

In personality, Mrs Hudson is gentle yet possesses a serenely dignified and level-headed demeanour very similar to Hound’s own composure. She is resourceful and highly skilled, excelling as both a high-speed driver and a sharpshooter with a revolver. These abilities often place her in active, rather than passive, roles during the series’ adventures. Despite her outward calm, she becomes a love interest for several characters, primarily Sherlock Hound, but also Dr Watson and even Professor Moriarty, who sometimes attempts to kidnap her in the belief that she is Hound’s weak point.

Her role in the story is that of a supportive figure who maintains the Baker Street household, yet she frequently participates in the action. She is not merely a domestic presence but a capable ally who can drive a getaway car or defend herself and others with marksmanship. The series does not depict a significant character arc of personal change, but it consistently reveals her competence and composure under pressure. Notably, Hayao Miyazaki, who worked on early episodes, originally envisioned her as the true mastermind of Baker Street, capable of outsmarting both Hound and Moriarty, though this idea was ultimately not used in the final production. As with most characters in the series, Mrs Hudson is depicted as an anthropomorphic golden retriever.
