TV-Series
Description
Geracho is a male Cocotama who serves as one of the main characters in his series. He is the spirit born from the flat-screen television set in the Yotsuba family home, which leads to his role as the so-called Television God.

In terms of appearance, Geracho resembles a small, light green lizard or hamster-like creature with a cream-colored muzzle and eyebrows. He has round, reddish-orange eyes and a mouth shaped like a sideways three, typical of anime cat faces. On top of his head and down his back are darker green bumps that resemble dinosaur fins or reptile scales, adding to his unique design. His tail is particularly distinctive, taking the form of a green television electric wire ending in a plug. He wears white pants that feature his personal Cocotama symbol: a red speech bubble with a smiling face inside. As a male Cocotama, the rim of his pants has sharp zigzag edges, a design trait that distinguishes him from female characters of his kind.

Geracho’s personality is defined by his love for comedy and his firm belief that he is the king of laughter. He constantly cracks jokes and attempts to be funny, though his humor does not always land as intended. He is playful, mischievous, and energetic, with a child-like enthusiasm for fun and a deep hatred of being left out of activities. However, he also possesses a strong competitive streak and considerable male pride. He is a sore loser who becomes jealous easily, particularly when another Cocotama like Luckytama receives laughter and attention instead of him. Despite his bravado and tendency to hide his true feelings, he is ultimately a go-getter who throws himself into challenges with determination. He has a distinctive speech pattern, often ending his sentences with the quirky suffix datcho, which is reminiscent of how announcers in Japan might draw attention to something on the news or radio.

His magical abilities are directly tied to his comedic nature and his origin as a television spirit. Geracho possesses powers that allow him to generate unusual and funny happenings, capable of making those around him laugh uncontrollably. His magic is centered on the concepts of comedy and entertainment, and he also has an affinity for controlling electronics, which reflects his birth from a TV set.

Geracho first appears in the fifth episode of the anime, titled The God of Laughter? Geracho is here! It is implied that he had been living hidden in the Yotsuba house for some time before the other Cocotamas discovered him. Upon encountering the group, he grows angry when he sees everyone laughing at the clumsy antics of Rakitama. Jealous of the attention, Geracho declares himself the god of laughter and challenges Rakitama to a comedy contest. He repeatedly underestimates Rakitama’s natural silliness and loses the contest each time. The human girl Kokoro Yotsuba, who forms contracts with the Cocotamas, kindly offers to let him live with the others. Despite his repeated refusals, his heart is moved when Kokoro creates a drawing of a room designed especially for him. To protect this drawing, he finally gives up the competition and agrees to sign the contract, officially joining the main cast as a member of the team.

Throughout the series, Geracho’s primary motivation is to be recognized as the premier comedic figure, often clashing with rivals who steal his spotlight. His journey involves pitting his interests as a television spirit against those of other characters, such as a book-loving Cocotama, which highlights his stubbornness but also points to a reluctant capacity for adaptation. While he initially leans toward pure chaos and mischief, he gradually begins to take on more responsibility, mentoring younger characters and participating in training courses. His development shows a slow transformation from simple troublemaking to occasional moments of maturity, although his childish zeal and passion for comedy remain the core of his character.
