Movie
Description
Tomo, known as the Angel (Tenshi), is a middle school student living in Kawasaki, Kanagawa, near Tokyo, with his older brother Kei and their father. In reality, he endures severe emotional and physical abuse from his father, triggering frequent dissociative states and an intense fear of trouble that makes him want to flee perceived threats. Kei consistently shields Tomo from physical harm, enduring beatings himself while reassuring Tomo the abuse isn’t his fault.

Within the virtual world "U," Tomo’s avatar manifests as a small, angelic creature resembling a clionidae. This form has a semi-transparent white body, red dot eyes, small ears, wings, and a floating golden crown. A red heart-shaped orb at his core glows brightly during strong emotions like fear or pain. As the Angel, he becomes one of Belle’s earliest supporters, instantly praising her beauty after her debut performance of "Gales of Song."

Tomo idolizes the Dragon, declaring him a hero publicly. He later guides Belle to the Dragon’s castle, revealing a garden of "secret roses" he cultivated there—a tribute to his mother, who wore roses on her dress. When the Dragon angrily orders Belle away, Tomo flees in fear but is comforted by the Dragon. During Belle and the Dragon’s dance, Tomo flies nearby. When Justices attack the Dragon, Tomo’s angel form lies faded on the ground, reflecting his distress.

After the Dragon’s castle burns, Tomo tearfully pleads for help for him during an interview, only to be mocked by adult users. While Suzu and Hiroka investigate the Dragon’s identity, they hear Tomo humming a melody known solely to Suzu and the Dragon, though neither suspects him. His father storms in, enraged by the noise, and moves to strike Tomo for disobedience. Kei intervenes, taking the blow and enduring verbal abuse where their father calls Kei "worthless" and wishes he would "disappear."

Suzu contacts the brothers as Belle, offering help, but both distrust her due to past broken promises and online mockery. After Belle reveals her real identity in U and sings to prove sincerity, Tomo persuades Kei to accept her aid. As they try to share their address with Suzu, their father discovers the livestream, cuts the connection, and confronts them. Suzu locates them with friends’ help, shielding the brothers during their father’s attack. When he scratches Suzu’s face, her defiance makes him flee. Tomo then tells Suzu she is as beautiful in reality as her avatar.

Tomo shares an exceptionally close bond with Kei, seeing him as a hero and protector in both reality and U, where they reside together in the Dragon’s castle. The roses Tomo grows in U symbolize rediscovered love and a link to his deceased mother. Despite his traumatic life, his personality radiates kindness, gentleness, and a desire to bring joy to others.

Following the rescue, indirect implications suggest Tomo and Kei may have been removed from their father’s custody or relocated to live with other relatives.
