TV-Series
Description
Aoi Sangu is the older sister of Mitsuba Sangu and a member of the Sangu family, one of the three prestigious noble houses that serve the ruling Hiragi family. She holds the rank of Colonel in the Japanese Imperial Demon Army and serves as the personal aide and attendant to Kureto Hiragi, the powerful and ambitious eldest son of the Hiragi clan.

In terms of appearance, Aoi is a young woman of about 23 to 25 years old with a slim build, standing 160 centimeters tall. She has distinctive blonde hair, a trait rumored to be a curse from her ancestors, which she typically wears in a side ponytail tied with a ribbon, and green eyes. Her standard attire is the black military uniform of the Imperial Demon Army, which she wears with white gloves and heeled shoes.

Aoi's personality is defined by her unwavering loyalty to Kureto Hiragi, to whom she has dedicated her life. She is consistently stoic, composed, and vigilant, rarely displaying emotion or allowing personal feelings to interfere with her duties. Her devotion to Kureto supersedes all other considerations, including her own safety and her familial bonds. She has stated that her loyalty belongs to Kureto personally rather than to the Hiragi family as an institution, and she is prepared to sacrifice her life for him without hesitation. This dedication is so profound that she once refrained from crying out in agony after a sniper shot off her foot, recognizing that any sign of weakness could be used against her master. Aoi is also ruthless and pragmatic, willing to kill without qualms when ordered or when it serves Kureto's objectives, as demonstrated when she silently and efficiently eliminated the bodyguards of Kureto's rival, Seishiro Hiragi.

Her primary motivation is to serve Kureto's ambitions and ensure his safety and success. She acts as his right hand, handling communications, delivering reports, and carrying out his commands without question. Aoi possesses a sharp, analytical mind and is well-educated on matters concerning demons, seraphs, and military strategy. For instance, she was able to identify the nature of the King of Salt seraph during the battle in Nagoya. Her efficiency and competence have earned her Kureto's complete trust, and the two operate as a silent, effective team, with Aoi often understanding his orders through body language alone.

In the story, particularly during the Battle in Nagoya, Aoi acts as Kureto's agent on the ground. She oversees the experiment to control Mirai Kimizuki, the subject being transformed into a seraph, and reports on her condition. She is present for the interrogation of Yuichiro Hyakuya and his squad, where she shows no emotion as their comrades are stabbed. Most significantly, under Kureto's orders, she participates in the plan to use soldiers, including members of her own sister's squad, as sacrifices to fuel the seraph experiment. She coldly orders the attack that impales several of Guren Ichinose's soldiers on spiked rods, showing no regard for their lives. When she sees her younger sister, Mitsuba, among the Moon Demon Company members, she only glances at her before looking away, displaying her characteristic indifference.

Aoi's key relationships are defined by her service to Kureto and her estrangement from her family. Her bond with Kureto is the most important in her life. While she serves him with absolute fealty and professionalism, there are implications that she also harbors genuine romantic feelings for him, as she has been seen blushing in response to his actions. In contrast, her relationship with her sister, Mitsuba, is deeply fractured. Aoi views Mitsuba as incompetent and a disgrace to their noble family, especially after Mitsuba became a subordinate of Guren Ichinose, whom Aoi and Kureto view with suspicion. This disdain escalates to outright hostility when Mitsuba and her squad defect from the army. Aoi later declares publicly that she has no sister, labeling Mitsuba a traitor. She had even been willing to offer Mitsuba as a sacrifice in Kureto's experiments, demonstrating that her loyalty to Kureto far outweighs any familial affection.

Regarding development, Aoi shows little change throughout the events of the Battle in Nagoya. She remains consistently devoted to Kureto and dismissive of her sister. Her role is to serve as a foil to the more empathetic members of the Moon Demon Company and to embody the cold, pragmatic ruthlessness of the Hiragi family's inner circle. She is a product of the noble Sangu household, raised to serve the Hiragi family above all else, and she fulfills that role with perfect, chilling efficiency.

Aoi is a highly capable combatant, a testament to her training in the prestigious Sangu house. She is a talented swordswoman, quick on her feet, and able to defend against attacks from powerful fighters like Yuichiro Hyakuya. Her skills are such that she can kill multiple targets silently and almost instantaneously. In addition to her physical prowess, she is also a skilled spell caster. Her primary weapon is a cursed gear, a demon-possessed katana known as Chijiryu, which translates to Earth-Shaped Dragon. Her abilities, combined with her tactical mind and absolute composure, make her a formidable soldier and an invaluable, if frighteningly loyal, asset to Kureto Hiragi.
