Description
Minamoto no Yorinobu is a supporting character in the anime Garo: Crimson Moon. He is a member of the powerful and prestigious Minamoto clan, a family that has been tasked with defending Japan from supernatural threats for generations. His father is Minamoto no Mitsunaga, a once-famous non-military aristocrat who later became a monk but still holds strong influence as the head of the clan.

Yorinobu is recognized as an expert swordsman and is counted among Fujiwara no Michinaga's Four Heavenly Kings, a group of elite warriors. He serves as an officer in the Heian-kyō police magistrate, the kebiishi, responsible for maintaining order in the capital. Despite his noble lineage, Yorinobu is somewhat isolated among his peers due to his eccentric personality and unconventional methods. He has a reputation for being a troublemaker and is often seen as an unpredictable element. His reluctance to follow orders and his tendency to act on his own frequently put him at odds with his superiors, though he is extremely loyal to his comrades and determined to do whatever is necessary to protect the people of Japan.

Yorinobu is driven by a desire to live up to the legacy of his grandfather, whom he idolizes. He inherited the Garo armor, a powerful suit of armor that grants its wearer incredible strength, speed, and agility, from this grandfather. He is ambitious and takes great pride in his accomplishments, though his focus on maintaining a successful image can sometimes lead him to prioritize his reputation over genuine connections. He prefers to use two-handed swords in battle and is a competent soldier, but he is often completely outclassed when engaging Horrors in combat.

His role in the story places him within a complex web of political maneuvering, ancient legends, and supernatural threats. As the struggle for power between the government and various entities seeking to control Japan unfolds, Yorinobu must navigate these treacherous waters. He forms alliances with other knights and warriors, including the enigmatic Makai Alchemist, who may hold the key to unlocking the full potential of the Garo armor. After the death of Kintoki, a key ally, Yorinobu is promoted by Michinaga to become the new head of the Heian-kyō police magistrate, marking a significant step in his development and his rise to a position of greater authority and responsibility.
