TV-Series
Description
Minami is a supporting character in Rampo Kitan: Game of Laplace who serves as a medical examiner for the police, frequently appearing alongside her silent assistant known as Corpsey. She is a young woman of short stature, standing approximately 151 centimeters tall, with long purple hair and purple eyes, and is typically seen wearing a surgeon’s hat and jacket. Her professional role involves conducting autopsies and delivering forensic findings, which she often presents with an outwardly clinical and almost cheerful demeanor.
Beneath this composed exterior, Minami carries a deep personal trauma. Her younger brother was killed by a doctor named Munakata, an event that left her with an all-consuming desire for vengeance. This grief drives her to secretly assume the mantle of the Fiend with Twenty Faces, specifically becoming the fifth iteration of that vigilante identity, known as the Successor. In the episode titled Terrifying Mistake, she attempts to poison Munakata during a public assembly, using the same chemical that killed her brother, but her plan is foiled when detective Kogoro Akechi replaces the contaminated food beforehand. Her actions serve as part of a larger diversion orchestrated by the original Twenty Faces, Namikoshi.
Minami’s background provides the motivation for her turn toward vigilante justice, and her forensic expertise gives her unique abilities to analyze crime scenes and understand the methods behind murders. Her relationship with the police and with Akechi is primarily professional, though her hidden agenda places her in opposition to them. Throughout the series, she evolves from a supporting forensic investigator into an active antagonist, revealing the depth of her obsession and the tragic cost of her loss. Despite her brief direct involvement as a villain, her character underscores the series’ themes of personal justice and the cycle of vengeance.
