Description
Alicia, known as the User of the Darkness in Wonderland or Darkuser Alicia in Wonderland, is the main protagonist of the anime series Queen's Blade: Grimoire. She is a magic swordswoman who hails from a different dimension and finds herself lost in the foreign world of Mel Fair Land, a realm of endless summer and magic. Disoriented by her arrival, Alicia is perplexed by this strange land, and the inhabitants conversely view her as the odd one, treating her like a peculiar outsider. Her primary motivation throughout the series is to find a way to return to her own world, and she sees the Queen's Blade tournament, a competition held in Mel Fair Land, as the means to achieve this goal. The story begins with Alicia using dark magic to open a dimensional gate, through which a mysterious rabbit lures her, leading to her arrival in this new reality.

Alicia's personality is defined by a terribly haughty and confident demeanor. She behaves arrogantly and often abuses the residents of the borderlands for what she perceives as their lack of common sense, finding their carefree and festive attitudes grating. Despite her overbearing manner, she harbors a deep hatred for twisted or dishonest things, suggesting a core of personal integrity beneath her prickly exterior. Her irritation is particularly sparked by the locals' habit of breaking into song at any free moment, a custom she finds utterly ridiculous. This clash of sensibilities is a central aspect of her character, as she struggles to navigate a world whose logic and social norms are completely alien to her. While she is quick to criticize the world around her, the narrative questions whether Alicia herself will gradually be tainted or changed by her prolonged exposure to this unfamiliar land.

In terms of her role in the story, Alicia is the central figure around whom the events of Queen's Blade: Grimoire unfold. Her arrival in Mel Fairland sets the plot in motion, and her participation in the tournament drives her personal journey. She interacts with a cast of characters inspired by fairy tales, including Kaguya the Princess of the Magic Sword, Zara the Demon Hunter with a Little Red Riding Hood theme, and Tina, who draws from The Little Mermaid. Her key relationships are forged with these fellow competitors as they are all drawn into the tournament and other conflicts. For example, in one storyline, after being dragged to Melfairland by an angel named Quel, Alicia becomes entangled with the pirate captain Liliana, who is plundering treasures. This leads to an encounter with Princess Tina of the Undersea Kingdom, who dreams of the surface world, and Alicia is pulled into a struggle over treasure alongside her. These relationships often form out of necessity and shared circumstances rather than immediate trust, highlighting Alicia's solitary and reluctant nature as a protagonist.

Throughout the series, Alicia shows a subtle development as she is forced to adapt to her surroundings. While she begins as a purely cynical and abrasive outsider, the necessity of interacting with the world and its inhabitants to achieve her goal of returning home slowly begins to affect her. Whether she eventually becomes "tainted" by the world or finds a way to reconcile her nature with her environment is a core part of her narrative arc. Her abilities are deeply tied to her title, as she is a powerful user of dark magic. As a magic swordswoman, she wields these powers in combat with skill. Her specific abilities include manipulating darkness to blind her opponents, creating a shadowy doppelganger that acts as a servant or a second self, and releasing this darkness in powerful waves or concentrated blasts to attack her enemies from a distance. Complementing her magic, she fights with a rapier named Liddell, which serves as her primary weapon for close-quarters combat, making her a versatile fighter capable of engaging at multiple ranges.
