Description
Emile Crossfode is a central character in the story, whose real name is Emilia Hermit, the third princess of the Gudenburg Kingdom. To escape a politically arranged marriage and reunite with her childhood friend, she adopts the male pseudonym Emile Crossfode and enrolls at the floating naval academy, Little Garden.

Physically, Emilia is petite with a well-proportioned figure, standing at 157.2 cm. To maintain her disguise as a boy, she binds her chest and uses special energy equipment to conceal her feminine figure, keeping her hair short and wearing masculine clothing. Her true identity as a princess is complicated by her birth; she is the illegitimate daughter of the king and a woman from the rival nation of Wenz, which led to a lonely childhood where she was hidden away and forbidden from living as a member of the royal family.

During this isolated period of her youth, she met Hayato Kisaragi, who became her first and most important friend, as well as her first love. Their time together was cut short when their hometown was attacked by monstrous creatures known as Savages. During this incident, Emilia was severely wounded and infected with the Savage virus. She survived the infection and, as a result, became a Variant, a type of fighter with an exceptionally high compatibility and reaction level with Hundred weapons.

Her personality is defined by a strong will, bravery, and deep loyalty, especially towards those she cares about. Outwardly, she often presents a composed and sometimes stubborn front, but she possesses a kind and caring nature. When in the presence of Hayato, she can show a softer, more vulnerable, and slightly shy side. She typically uses the masculine pronoun "boku" to refer to herself, a habit picked up from her close friend Charlotte Dimandias, though she uses more formal feminine language in official settings.

Her primary motivation throughout the story is her bond with Hayato. After being separated from him, she learned that he was enrolling in Little Garden. With the help of her friend Charlotte, a chief technician at the academy, she decided to follow him. To avoid her royal family's political machinations and to stay by his side, she disguised herself as a boy and entered the school as Emile Crossfode. Her role in the story is that of a key protagonist and a skilled fighter, quickly becoming one of Hayato's most trusted partners.

As a Variant, her most notable ability is her unique Hundred weapon, the Innocent-type called Arms Shroud, also known as "The Mist That Covers All." Unlike specialized weapons, Arms Shroud is a versatile, all-purpose armament that can transform into various forms, including a cannon, a spear, a rapier, and a shield. This adaptability in combat is her greatest strength, allowing her to respond flexibly to different situations. Her condition as a Variant also creates a unique physiological link to Hayato; she can transfer her energy to him through her saliva to help control his own viral outbreaks.

Her key relationships are central to the narrative. Her devotion to Hayato Kisaragi is the driving force behind her actions. She shares a deep friendship with Charlotte Dimandias, who supports her disguise and provides technical assistance. Another important relationship is with the student council president, Claire Harvey, who discovers her secret but chooses to protect and welcome her into the student council.

Throughout the series, Emile's character develops from a hidden princess and a girl in disguise into a recognized and respected warrior. Her secret is eventually revealed, and she abandons her male persona to live openly as Emilia. In the final battles, her physical limits as a Variant are reached. After a climactic confrontation, she and Hayato grow even closer, and she becomes pregnant with his child. This leads to her ultimate decision to retire from being a front-line warrior, choosing to start a new life with Hayato and leaving her combat role behind.
