Gyutaro, the central antagonist of the Entertainment District Arc, emerged from the crushing poverty of Yoshiwara’s Rashomon Riverbank. Born to a syphilis-ravaged prostitute who tried to abort him, he endured relentless abuse and survived on vermin, wielding a scavenged sickle. Deformed, malodorous, and despised, he found fleeting purpose in protecting his younger sister Ume—later Daki—whose beauty starkly contrasted his own wretchedness. As a debt collector, he weaponized brutality to intimidate, shielding Ume from their violent world. After Ume, at thirteen, blinded a samurai who mocked Gyutaro, she was burned alive and left to die. Discovering her charred body, Gyutaro slaughtered her tormentors, then carried her through Yoshiwara, only to collapse from wounds and rejection. The Upper Rank demon Doma transformed them into demons, fusing their bodies and granting shared dominion over Upper Rank Six. For centuries, they ravaged the district, with Gyutaro claiming fifteen Hashira lives. His demonic form retained a gaunt frame, gray-spotted skin, and wild green hair, with eyes of yellowed malice. His Blood Demon Art let him manipulate poisoned blood into razor-edged sickles and projectiles, hurled with lethal telekinesis. He savored torturing those he envied, attacking with sadistic glee. A psychic eye embedded in Daki linked their senses, synchronizing assaults. Survival required decapitating both simultaneously—a flaw exploited in their demise. Bitter and envious, Gyutaro mocked others’ privilege while clawing his own flesh to heighten his monstrosity. His bond with Daki veered between harsh reproach and fierce devotion, a toxic codependency forged in shared suffering. Even in death, he mourned corrupting Ume, their ashes mingling as he recalled his vow to shield her. Their end came when Tengen Uzui and Tanjiro Kamado’s group severed Daki’s head, provoking Gyutaro’s vengeful rampage. Amid collapsing streets, Nezuko’s flames and Tengen’s explosives weakened him until Tanjiro’s blade struck true. As dual decapitations unraveled their existence, Gyutaro glimpsed their childhood despair one final time, twin souls fading into oblivion.
