Description
Kazuomi Ōga is a third-year student at Aoba High School, known for being one of the top students in his grade, consistently achieving the highest scores among the boys. This academic success leads to him frequently being selected as the class representative, a role he takes seriously.

Physically, Kazuomi is recognized as good-looking with an attractive physique, possessing light brown or blonde hair and brown eyes. A notable feature is a piercing in his left ear, which matches one worn by his classmate Rena Kariu and was done by his older brother. He often wears his older brother’s old school uniform, which is noticeably too loose on his slender frame.

In terms of personality, there is a distinct contrast between his appearance and his actual nature. While his look might come across as somewhat flashy or frivolous, Kazuomi is, in truth, a serious, focused, and remarkably kind individual. He is dedicated to his studies, spending most of his time perfecting his grades with the goal of getting into a good college. Despite his intelligence in academics, he is notably dense and oblivious when it comes to romance and matters of the heart, earning him a reputation as pure-hearted but clueless. He is also characterized by his poor athletic ability, being something of a "sports idiot," which provides a stark contrast to his intellectual prowess.

Kazuomi’s primary motivation stems from his family’s financial situation. His family does not have a large amount of money, which is a significant reason why he works so hard to be at the top of his class; by maintaining excellent grades, he can earn exemptions for school meals and reduce the financial burden on his family. He is also deeply motivated by a sense of responsibility towards his older brother, Takaomi Ōga. He greatly respects his brother, who had previously shouldered the responsibilities of providing for the family. Even after his brother becomes a NEET, Kazuomi does not hold it against him. Instead, he sees it as his own turn to be responsible and provide his brother with time to rest.

Within the story, Kazuomi serves as a key friend and classmate to the protagonist, Arata Kaizaki. He shares a warm relationship with Arata, often helping him with the retry tests he must take, even if he is occasionally irritated by the lack of progress in Arata's studies. It is through Arata’s advice and observations that Kazuomi eventually realizes his own romantic feelings for his long-time friend, Rena Kariu. His relationship with Rena is central to his development. They have been close friends since middle school, but Kazuomi’s dense personality prevented him from noticing Rena’s obvious affection for him. He cares for his friends deeply and often looks up to Arata for social advice, feeling embarrassed at times, such as when he mentions having a girlfriend as a way to boast. His bond with his brother is also key, as the matching piercing he treasures serves as a remembrance of when Takaomi was cheerfully working hard.

Kazuomi’s development throughout the story is significant. He transitions from being completely oblivious to romance to recognizing his own feelings for Rena Kariu. With encouragement from his friends, he eventually confesses to her during a summer festival, and the two become a couple. His story also involves navigating family responsibilities and future anxieties, as he worries about his unemployed older brother and contemplates his own path after high school, which includes aspirations to attend a university away from home.

Beyond his academic abilities, Kazuomi possesses several other notable skills. Despite being a "sports idiot," he is highly adept at domestic tasks. He is a skilled cook and is capable of making various dishes and homemade cookies, a trait that leads his friends to comment on his high "house-husband score" or "女子力" (feminine charm/practical skills). He also holds a part-time job at a convenience store to help support his family, where his work ethic is strong.
