Description
In Sakura Wars 2, Ichiro Ohgami serves as the captain of the Imperial Combat Revue's Flower Division and the central protagonist of the story. Having spent the previous year serving as an Imperial Navy Ensign and completing duties overseas, he returns to Tokyo to resume command of the all-female unit he led in the first game. A graduate of the Imperial Naval Academy, Ohgami was originally chosen to head the Flower Division after proving his capabilities during a test of a prototype Koubu combat mech at sea.

Ohgami's personality blends a hot-blooded, heroic spirit with an overall reliability that makes him an effective leader. He wears his uniform and the responsibilities of command well, consistently demonstrating gallantry and a willingness to perform acts of heroism in defense of the team and the city. He possesses a natural charm that allows him to connect with each of his female teammates, though this is occasionally complicated by an unfortunate knack for accidentally stumbling upon them in various states of undress. Despite these moments, he is fundamentally a trustworthy and dutiful officer, dedicated to both the theatrical and combat missions of the Flower Division.

The primary motivation driving Ohgami in this chapter of the story is the protection of Tokyo from a new supernatural threat known as the Black Demon Society, as well as hostile political forces that seek to dismantle the Imperial Combat Revue. Upon his return, he and his team, which includes newly recruited members Orihime Soletta and Reni Milchstrasse, find themselves opposing the masked Demon King and the formidable politician Keigo Kyogoku. When Kyogoku launches a military coup and seizes the Grand Imperial Theater, Ohgami is forced to lead his division into hiding and orchestrate resistance from the shadows, showcasing his tactical leadership under extreme pressure.

His role in the story is defined by his command decisions during the game's tactical combat sequences and his personal interactions with the team during non-battle segments. The bond he builds with individual members of the Flower Division directly impacts their performance in battle, as stronger relationships allow for devastating combination attacks during the turn-based mech combat. His most significant relationships are naturally with the women under his command, including the core members from the first game such as Sakura Shinguji, Sumire Kanzaki, Maria Tachibana, and the newer additions Orihime and Reni. By the conclusion of the game's events, following the defeat of Kyogoku and the deactivation of the magical super-weapon Musashi, Ohgami is promoted to Lieutenant in honor of his actions and is subsequently dispatched to Paris to help form a new Combat Revue there.

In terms of development, Ohgami matures from an ensign returning from training to a battle-hardened lieutenant capable of leading a division through a full-scale political coup. Notably, he also deepens his relationships with the entire cast, as the sequel expands the trust system to allow for combination attacks between other characters as well, not just Ohgami, encouraging him to foster harmony across the entire unit. His notable abilities are both tactical and personal. He is a skilled practitioner of kenjutsu, specifically a twin-sword style using two ōtachi, or medium-length Japanese swords. He is also a capable pilot of a humanoid Koubu combat mech, and his greatest strength lies in his ability to coordinate synchronized, high-damage combination attacks with his teammates, a skill reliant on the trust and bonds he cultivates with them.
