Description
Kohran Li is a member of the Imperial Combat Revue's Flower Division, serving as a combat pilot, the unit's chief mechanic and engineer, and a stage manager for its theatrical performances. Born in China, her early life was marked by tragedy when a violent upheaval resulted in the deaths of her parents, leaving her as the sole survivor. She was later taken in by Howard Percy, who fostered her natural mechanical aptitude and became a significant mentor figure. Commander Yoneda's intervention helped bring her into the Imperial Combat Revue, where she underwent training as both a mechanic and a soldier.

Her personality is vibrant and upbeat, making her a central mood-maker within the group. She possesses a pronounced sense of humor and a cheerful disposition, yet she channels a deep-seated intelligence into obsessive inventing. Her mechanical genius is unmatched; she performs almost single-handedly the maintenance of the group's Koubu war machines, a feat the professional engineering team of the Kanzaki Zaibatsu cannot replicate. However, her eccentric inventions are notoriously unstable and prone to spectacular backfires and explosions, a running aspect of her character. This comedic exterior covers a more vulnerable interior. Deep down, she is self-conscious about her appearance relative to her fellow Flower Division members and initially doubts her worthiness of affection and respect. The trauma of losing her family in a fire has left a profound scar on her, causing her to freeze during crises involving open flames. Her personal growth heavily involves confronting this trauma and learning to accept herself without changing her quirky, determined nature.

Her relationship with the squad commander, Ogami, is a pillar of her development. He frequently serves as the unwilling test subject for her inventions, but he also acts as a crucial source of reassurance, helping her overcome her deep-seated insecurities. Her other key relationships include her strong bond with the rest of the Flower Division and her deep respect and affection for her foster father. Her motivations are rooted in a desire to protect the innocent using her engineering talents, to create inventions that improve everyday life, and to secure a sense of belonging. Her journey is driven by the need to reconcile her tragic past with her optimistic present.

Her abilities are twofold. As an engineer, she is a self-taught genius capable of intuitively understanding and improving complex mechanical systems. As a combatant, she pilots her Koubu with skill and courage, often relying on custom modifications she built herself. She also contributes to the theatrical side of the Flower Division, proving herself a capable actress and stagehand. The contrast between her frequent comedic failures and her genuine, momentous successes in engineering and combat defines her as a uniquely resourceful and deeply human member of the team.
