TV-Series
Description
Miko Kamiyama is a supporting character and one of the heroines in the anime and visual novel series Kakyūsei. She is a student at Uzuki Academy, attending class 3-B, and is best known as the closest friend of the main heroine, Mizuho Yuuki. Miko lives with her father, a strict priest, at their family's temple, where she actively works as a shrine maiden. Her upbringing has been sheltered, with no mother present and a father who enforces a rigid curfew of five o'clock in the evening. Miko's personality is sweet, good-hearted, and notably naive. She possesses a calm, dignified, and polite demeanor, though she is often lost in thought and speaks at a very slow, easygoing pace. This absent-mindedness and her tendency to be unaware of her surroundings earned her the nicknames Trip Woman and Dream Girl during her middle school years. She is genuinely innocent and pure in her outlook, often failing to grasp romantic or social nuances, such as the attention she attracts from boys or the need for modesty when wearing skirts. Despite this detached quality, she is fundamentally kind and forgiving, even able to forgive the wealthy and persistent Haruhiko Satake for his inappropriate advances. Her primary motivation stems from her gentle nature and her desire to maintain her close friendship with Mizuho, even when their feelings become entangled. In the story, Miko harbors affections for Tohru Nagase, a popular classmate boarding with Mizuho's family. Her strict family background and innocence create obstacles in this romance, and her friend Mizuho often tries to support her while managing her own growing feelings for Tohru. Miko is also persistently pursued by Haruhiko Satake, a rich and antagonistic rival of the protagonist. Her key relationships are defined by this deep bond with Mizuho, her unspoken love for Tohru, and the unwanted attention from Haruhiko. Over the course of the narrative, Miko shows significant development. In the original game, after navigating her first romantic experiences, she becomes more proactive about relationships. Following graduation, she chooses to leave her sheltered home to live with the protagonist, enduring a modest and financially difficult life without complaint, demonstrating a deep commitment and loyalty. While her role in the OVA and TV series often involves her stepping aside for the main heroine, her personal growth is marked by a move from naive passivity to determined devotion. Her notable abilities are closely tied to her family background; she is skilled in her duties as a shrine maiden, performing the rituals and tasks associated with the temple.
