Description
Kenji Fujikido is the protagonist of the story, a man whose ordinary life is shattered by tragedy. Originally, he was a simple and honest salaryman living in the dystopian city of Neo-Saitama with his beloved wife, Fuyuko, and young son, Tochinoki. On a fateful Christmas Eve, during an event known as the Marunouchi Uprising, the family was caught in a violent ninja turf war. Kenji witnessed the brutal murder of his wife and child at the hands of a ninja, and he himself was left for dead, his own life slipping away. As he lay dying, a mysterious and malevolent ninja soul known as Naraku Ninja offered him a pact: the power to exact vengeance in exchange for becoming a vessel. Kenji accepted, and from this fusion of a mortal's grief and a vengeful spirit, the feared entity known as Ninja Slayer was born.

The core of Kenji Fujikido's personality is a maelstrom of conflicting forces. He is driven by an all-consuming, cold, and methodical desire for revenge against all evil ninjas, a quest that has earned him titles such as the "Bane of Soukaiya" and the "Grim Reaper of Neo-Saitama". He is merciless in his pursuit, showing no quarter to his enemies, and will even resort to brutal interrogation techniques, known as "interviews," to extract information. His speech is often terse and characterized by a theatrical, old-fashioned tone, and he announces his presence to foes with the famous declaration, "How do you do? I am Ninja Slayer!". Despite his terrifying reputation, Kenji desperately tries to cling to his remaining humanity. He works tirelessly to suppress the bloodthirsty influence of Naraku Ninja, who constantly urges him to kill indiscriminately. Kenji's personal moral code dictates that he should not harm innocent civilians, and he has formed bonds of trust and friendship with a select few, sharing his true name with allies like the freelance journalist Nancy Lee. He is profoundly aware that his crusade is not heroic; he views himself as a necessary evil, a "karate terrorist" on a selfish path of vengeance, and is prepared to face the consequences of his violent actions.

Kenji's primary motivation is straightforward yet all-consuming: to kill every last evil ninja in Neo-Saitama. His ultimate goal is to find and eliminate the ninja who murdered his family, a personal vendetta that fuels his entire existence. He sees his mission as a solitary one, a path of death he must walk alone. However, his journey forces him into a broader role. By destroying powerful ninja syndicates like the Soukai Syndicate and the Amakudari Sect, he inadvertently becomes a protector of the weak, even if that is never his stated intention. His character arc involves moving from a purely revenge-driven figure to one who must contemplate what remains when the revenge is fulfilled, leading to periods of profound loss and identity crisis.

Within the narrative, Kenji acts as the avenging angel of Neo-Saitama, a terrifying force of nature that descends upon the criminal ninja underworld. His role is defined by his relationships, most notably with the parasitic Naraku Ninja. This internal relationship is a constant battle for control, a symbiotic yet hostile bond where Kenji's willpower struggles against the ninja soul's insane craving for slaughter. His mentor, Dragon Gendoso of the Dragon Dojo, taught him the secret "Tea Ceremony" martial arts and the techniques to suppress Naraku, passing on an important instruction: "For an opponent that one hundred shurikens cannot defeat, do not rely on a single shuriken... throw one thousand shurikens!". Gendoso's eventual death at the hands of Kenji's nemesis, the Dark Ninja, becomes another deep wound and a source of guilt, strengthening his resolve to protect Gendoso's daughter, Dragon Yukano. Other key allies include Nancy Lee, a skilled information broker who often provides him with crucial intelligence and support. His arch-enemy is Fujiokata Katakata, the Dark Ninja, who is directly responsible for the murder of his family, making their conflict the central personal vendetta of his life.

Kenji Fujikido undergoes a significant but subtle development throughout his story. He begins as a man completely overwhelmed by his new power, entering a period known as the "Seven Days of Darkness" where Naraku Ninja fully controlled his body, leading to indiscriminate slaughter. After being saved and trained by Dragon Gendoso, he learns to assert his own will, beginning his fight as Kenji Fujikido rather than as a puppet of Naraku. He evolves from a purely reactive force of revenge into a more experienced, albeit still grim, warrior who grapples with complex questions about his purpose. At one point, after defeating many of his initial targets, he loses direction and becomes listless, a "ninja without a mission," until the emergence of new threats rekindles his fight. In later parts of the story, he eventually sheds the Ninja Slayer mantle and the influence of Naraku, continuing his fight for justice under a new identity, Satsubatsu Knight, proving that his will to protect others from evil outlasts even the vengeful spirit that gave him his power.

As Ninja Slayer, Kenji wields formidable and supernatural abilities rooted in the ancient martial art of "Karate," which in this world encompasses all forms of combat and supernatural powers. His signature techniques include the Naraku's Black Flames, which can incinerate enemies and even repair his own ninja attire. He possesses superhuman strength, speed, and durability, and can use Neuron Acceleration Jutsu to move faster than a speeding bullet train. He is also a master of the secret martial arts of the Dragon Clan, known as "Tea Ceremony," which includes techniques such as the healing "Tea Ceremony Breathing," the powerful "Dragon Twist Kick," and Ukemi, a technique to disperse impact from falls. A key aspect of his power is Soul Synchronization with Naraku Ninja; the more he gives in to the ninja soul's influence, the more his karate becomes nearly invincible, though he risks losing himself entirely in the process. As Kenji Fujikido, his civilian form is a man with black hair and a stern, tired expression, standing at 181 centimeters tall. When the Ninja Slayer persona takes over or when Naraku gains influence, his hair turns stark white, and he dons a flowing, dark red ninja costume complete with a menpo (face mask) bearing the kanji for "Ninja" and "Kill".
