Koharu Tanaka is a first-year student at Tousei High School, commonly referred to as Koharun by her clubmates. After entering high school, she struggles to decide on a club to join and is recruited into the Tesaguri club because she possesses the qualities of a tsukkomi, or straight man, which fits the group’s dynamic. The Tesaguri club is an unofficial organization that focuses on brainstorming new club activities by discussing tropes and ideas from anime and other media. Koharu begins as a hesitant newcomer but gradually becomes an active participant. Her role within the club is to provide grounded reactions and logical counters to the more imaginative and eccentric suggestions of the other members, serving as the comedic straight man. Her key relationships are with the other club members, including Yua, Hina, and Aoi, whose interactions form the foundation of her experience. Over the course of the series, Koharu develops from an uncertain recruit into a confident and engaged contributor to the club’s creative process.
