TV Special
Description
Kazuki Kazami is the elder sister of the protagonist, Yuuji Kazami. Despite her delicate and diminutive stature, standing at 150 centimeters, she possesses a brilliant intellect that leads many to label her a prodigy. She has long white hair and red eyes, and her appearance often carries a sleepy or indifferent expression, which contrasts with her sharp and calculating nature.

Born on March 22, Kazuki was the central pillar of the Kazami household. While still a student, her exceptional talent, particularly in painting, made her the family's primary economic support. This dynamic created a dysfunctional environment where her younger brother Yuuji was neglected by their parents, a situation that caused Kazuki great distress. She shares her age with Amane Suou, and the two attended Takizono Private Academy together, where they were both members of the basketball team.

Kazuki's personality is defined by her extraordinary intelligence and her deep, complex feelings for her brother. She is calm, logical, and level-headed, capable of formulating long-term plans and maintaining composure in the most dire circumstances, as demonstrated during the bus crash that would eventually lead to her disappearance. To those she does not care about, she can appear pragmatic, blunt, and manipulative. However, for those she holds dear, particularly Yuuji, she reveals a more vulnerable and feminine side, occasionally becoming flustered or high-strung. She has expressed a wish to be seen as more than just a "know-it-all" genius and sometimes desires to be an ordinary girl.

Kazuki's relationship with her younger brother is the most significant and defining aspect of her character. Her love for him is intense and borders on obsessive, leading to behaviors such as monopolizing his time, bathing and sleeping with him, and teaching him about the female body. This possessive affection meant she disliked him forming close bonds with other girls, such as Sachi Komine. Despite its unhealthy elements, her devotion is genuine and self-sacrificing; she wanted Yuuji to grow strong and become a proper man who would never make women cry. This deep bond ultimately evolves over the course of the story, and after years of separation, their reconciliation involves an admission of mutual romantic love.

Several years before the main events, Kazuki was involved in a tragic bus accident during a school trip. Though she and Amane Suou survived, the aftermath was brutal. In the chaos, Kazuki's survival was kept secret. Her body was recovered, and due to her genius-level intellect, she was forcibly integrated into a covert government project as the core processing unit of the Thanatos System, a fate that led everyone who knew her to believe she had died. As part of this system, her physical body ceased to age, and she existed only as a consciousness within the machine for approximately six years.

Within the story's narrative, Kazuki serves as a pivotal figure whose presence is felt long before her physical reappearance. In The Labyrinth of Grisaia, her memory heavily influences Yuuji's past and motivations. She truly returns in the final part of the trilogy. Operating under the alias of Thanatos, she uses her control over the system to secretly orchestrate a plan to rescue Yuuji from the organization that imprisoned him. She communicates with and equips the heroines of Mihama Academy, guiding their efforts from behind the scenes before her connection is severed. Ultimately, her physical body is retrieved, and she reunites with Yuuji and the others, leading to her recovery and reintegration into their lives.

Kazuki's notable abilities stem almost entirely from her unparalleled intellect. She is a quick-witted strategist and a natural leader, capable of outmaneuvering opponents and commanding the loyalty of those around her. Her analytical skills allow her to learn complex skills in an incredibly short time. Though her physical prowess was temporarily weakened by years of inactivity within the Thanatos System, she is also capable of defending herself in melee combat when necessary. After her rescue, she notably wore a prosthetic claw on her left hand, a choice she later revealed was merely a joke for her own amusement.
