ONA
Description
Andreas Lise is the central antagonist of the anime Saint Seiya: Soul of Gold. Standing at 188 centimeters tall, his role in the story is that of a usurper who seizes control of Asgard under the guise of a benevolent leader, though he is ultimately a vessel for a far more sinister divine power.

Andreas was originally the chief physician at Valhalla Palace. In this capacity, he showed a caring and helpful nature, such as when he offered aid to Sigmund, who had been imprisoned. This compassionate demeanor formed the foundation of his public persona. When the former ruler of Asgard, Hilda, fell ill, Andreas stepped in as her successor and the new earthly representative of the god Odin. To the citizens of Asgard, he presented himself as a kind and understanding savior, winning their trust by promising a better life. He achieved this by reviving the enormous, forbidden tree Yggdrasil, whose power brought warmth and sunlight to the frigid land, making the people deeply grateful to him.

However, this benevolent exterior masked a highly calculating, cruel, and manipulative nature. Andreas was not acting of his own free will; he had been possessed by the malevolent false god Loki, who used the physician as his human puppet. Under Loki's influence, Andreas became cold and ruthless. His true motivations were not the prosperity of Asgard but the fulfillment of Loki's ambitions. He used Yggdrasil as a tool to drain the cosmos from the resurrected Gold Saints, aiming to gather enough power for Loki to obtain the legendary spear Gungnir and conquer the world. He manipulated events from behind the scenes, even controlling the consciousness of the maiden Lyfia to ensure the Gold Saints were resurrected in Asgard to serve as his power sources.

In his role as the ruler of Asgard, Andreas commanded a new generation of seven God Warriors, equipping them with enhanced Odin Sapphires to battle the Gold Saints. He oversaw the experiments of the God Warrior Fafner at Yggdrasil and used a magical chessboard to observe and influence the battles taking place within the great tree's seven chambers. One of the most significant events in his past was a confrontation with the Gold Saint, Aiolos of Sagittarius, who had discovered his true intentions. In that battle, Andreas suffered a permanent injury when his left eye was struck by one of Aiolos's golden arrows. This wound was not just physical; the arrow's power remained lodged in his body, acting as a limiting factor that suppressed his strength and left him vulnerable.

Key relationships define his role in the story. He is the puppet of Loki, and as the series progresses, his own identity is increasingly subsumed by the god's will. He stands in direct opposition to the twelve Gold Saints, particularly Leo Aiolia, the brother of the man who wounded him. He is also a false idol to his own subordinates and the people of Asgard, who are unaware of his possession. One of his most cruel acts is his treatment of the maiden Lyfia, whom he manipulates and ultimately orders to be killed.

The character's development follows his gradual loss of self to Loki. In the final battle, the lingering power of Aiolos's golden arrow weakens Andreas to the point where Loki's soul fully takes over his body, effectively erasing Andreas Lise as an individual. In this final state, the Loki-possessed Andreas is confronted by several Gold Saints who have activated their divine God Cloths. He is ultimately destroyed by the combined might of the Athena Exclamation, a forbidden technique performed by the Gold Saints Mu, Saga, and童虎 (Dohko). While his body was annihilated in this attack, the spirit of Loki survived, hidden within the armor of a God Warrior, bringing an end to Andreas Lise's tragic role as the false god's mortal host.

As a result of Loki's possession and his own scheming, Andreas Lise wielded considerable power. He could control Yggdrasil, using its roots to attack his enemies and absorb their cosmo. He demonstrated the ability to teleport, manipulate the minds of others, and create powerful defensive barriers. When fighting, he could generate powerful energy blasts and was strong enough to defeat Gold Saints in direct combat. His most notable ability was the power to forcibly transform his God Warriors into mindless berserkers, sacrificing their free will for a savage increase in combat strength. Despite these formidable abilities, he was not invincible, as the golden arrow in his eye served as a constant and critical weakness that ultimately prevented him from achieving his goals.
